Re: Channel Switching?

Vactrols are exempt as are tubes as are other opto isolators. I hope you're right but where did you get that from? The suppliers I use in the UK that list them are reporting them as non-compliant. Tubes are listed as compliant because of the exemption. exempt.... 8. Cadmium and its compounds in ele...

Re: Channel Switching?

There's the added fun that, since the R part contains Cadmium and RoHS rules forbid that particular metal, these devices are likely to get harder to find and more expensive. RoHS rules don't _directly_ apply to US-only product, but if Europe and Asia are big parts of your component market, you woul...

Re: WHY ALUMINIUM CHASSIS?

Interesting that on an "Ultrphonics mod" he spaces the OT transformer away from the chassis with a thick shim. So he must think there is something to it, or maybe just a quicker way of getting components/wires further away from the OT. Have also understood that because a steel chassis is ferromagnet...

Re: AM Radio Interference-How to cure?

Many of my amp builds have a problem with picking up AM radio signals. It isn't just in this house-it happens elsewhere as well. Is there a quick fix for this problem without drastically altering the tone of the amps? If your input jack is not going to chassis ground right at the jack then run a 10...

Re: Does it Exist? A Dual Pot with Log & Rev. Log Tapers

Hi Everyone, hope you're well. I'm working on a design that really wants a "blend" control - basically a stereo pot that turns "up" on one set of lugs while turning "down" the other, and vice versa. The catch is that it needs to be an audio taper pot, which means half of the pot has to have a rever...

Re: Schematic and parts list for DC heater supply?

Well I missed the need for 6.3
For 12V you can use this
http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSea ... 02-1336-ND
There is a 5V version at 8A you can adjust up to 5.25V

Re: The PDF schematic is drawn incorrectly for the Rocket...

I have seen many schematics with the switch on the hot side and the fuse on the neutral side, or vice versa. Also seen them with oth on the hot side. You live and you learn. Or you learn so that you can live another day. Putting standards aside for a minute...what is the reasoning behind always put...

DUDE, this guy at GlassWare Audio Design still hasn't gotten back to me as to what tranny I should use with that regulator supply. I'm itching to get started.....but don't want to order the wrong tranny. Patience, David. Patience. :) John Broskie? Busy man and doesn't really care about simple...

Re: Ground loop with outboard gear

I recently finished a Dumbleator to go with a non-HRM ODS clone. A power conditioner feeds AC to both. When I plug the D'Lator in, however, I get a 60Hz hum into the amp. The hum is there even with the D'Lator off. I can cure the problem by lifting the ground lug off the male end of the D'Lator's A...

Re: Bluesbraker problem

Hello mates. Lying flat on my bench is a Marshall 50w JTM Model 1962 Bluesbreaker reissue made in ´94 It has a rattling sound when you play low notes, specially the 6th string. It sounds as if it was a broken or torn speaker, but speakers are fine (they´ve been tested, and so the amp with other spe...

Re: Schematic and parts list for DC heater supply?

Here's another incarnation; this one is from the Marshall 4001 Studio 15. I have an '88 4001, so I can say that it works fine and has held up well. MPM I say either float the center tap to DC potential (also relieves the cathode followers from excess voltage on the cathode) or use a tight DC supply...
