Re: Schematic and parts list for DC heater supply?

You've got bucket-loads of current available. The 0.9A that the 6SN7 and 12AX7 would draw will probably end up at around 1.1-1.2A with rectifier losses. Your total heater draw should be under 2.5A all things considered, so plenty of headroom left! Sweet. Good to know. I'll go compile the parts list...

Re: Bias Ground and Signal Ground

Ok a question about the output jack. Seems Aiken really stresses using an isolated jack. So do I use a isolated jack then run a wire from the sleeve of the jack back to the PI's ground? The OT ground goes to the isolated jack ground, the PI ground also goes there, or if the PI ground is going to th...

Re: Using a Zener Diode to drop B+

Hi, I was looking into some schematics where the builder used a Zener diode on the HT center tap to drop the voltage down to a manageable level before the first filter cap. The one example was on a 18 watt amp but I amp thinking of using it on a tube rectifier circuit using a 5U4 rect. I I haven't ...

Re: Anyone blow up Fulltone Fulldrive 2??

Just got a Fulltone Fulldrive 2 and I already blew it up   Didn't realize that the power supply cable I used was the opposite polarity of the others.... Anyway, I put in a op amp socket to swap 4558's and that's not it. (Major pain in the rear, those boards are not created to be repa...

Re: Alucorex face plates

Finally, I did a first test run. Exposure was done with 400 nm LEDs. Basically, once completed the exposure unit will look similar to this one: http://www.fdm-ware.de/UV-Led/index.html So far I did just one of the three strip boards with 24 LEDs on it. I was too lazy  I ended up with a 20 min...

Re: Lowering B+ is this method safe ??

So I have and old Masco P.A. amp that has been kicking around for a while I turned it into a PTP Express inspired amp but it was not laid out well and it buzzed and hummed Yesterday I turned it into a PTP inspired JTM45 and it turned out surprisingly well but I have about 490-500 volts on the plate...

Re: Really liking my new "Ultimate Attenuator"...

Anyone heard the Faustine? http://www.hugeracksinc.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=49627 a bunch of guys ab'd it against the UA and said it was no comparison. IT isnt a reamp either. I had a UA but I popped a power tube twice in a JCM800 on 8ohm that was running into a THD with no problems. I got spooked....

Re: XFMR drive FX loop?

Another weird oversight was no diodes on any of the relays and they were not on the original schematic either. It popped like mad until I added them. Curious, almost all small signal relays come with those built in nowadays. So much so that getting parts for amps that use relays with the "wr...

Re: XFMR drive FX loop?

Lack of gain has nothing to do with the transformer itself. Using a transformer in an effects loop 'can' be very beneficial in terms of isolating ground loops. The gain of course has to come from the circuits driving/receiving the signal. Isolating transformers are heavily used in studio settings, ...

Re: XFMR drive FX loop?

I was perusing a bunch of Fender schematics, and noticed that in the Tone Master there are two transformer-driven FX loops. Link: http://ampwares.com/schematics/tonemaster.pdf Does anyone have experience with that type of design? Design by zinkky Yes I owned one, it was a worthless effects loop, no...

Re: New Bugera Amps

Bugera aren't so stupid as to copy anyone's existing design and get them selves into expensive legal trouble. . Doesnt really matter, you can not patent standard guitar amp designs unless it is something that has NEVER been done before. Copying a look or a name and they could get into a trademark i...

Re: SS Pots (proper grounding) Is this mic on??

I've decided to use P.E.C. stainless Steel Pots on my Express Francesca inspired build (costly little buggers). Does anybody have any recommendations on grounding the pots? I thought of grounding them by using 1/2" lug terminals between the pot and the star washer. I wouldn't use the pots as a grou...

Re: Series/parallel loop - feedback needed

Hi, I'm trying to design an FX loop that will be switchable between series and parallel. The idea would be that the B+ for this would have another node on a Dumble dropping string, and this would be integrated into the amp. So the input and output jacks in this would just be hard-wired in. Please g...

1meg vol. pot vs 500K ? Cant readilly buy suitable pots here and need to replace a couple of 1meg volume pots. I have some 500k pots that were intended for guitar. Will these do? What might be the difference in tone amd or response? Dont forget the Reactance from the previous stage. Ignoring other ...

Re: DC heaters

I have bridge-rectified a 12.6V Radio Shack 1.2A transformer (seal off the center tap), regulated that down with a 7812 to 12V, and powered 3 12AX7s with it. 2 1000uF caps get the job done. I also use the chassis as a heat sink. Works just fine. Helped my Express be just a little bit quieter. At 12...
