Re: Why would my screens be higher than my plates?

Hi Guys, I have a tweaked D'lite with a choke and 6L6's. I noticed my plates are at 416V and my Screens are at 426. I seem to remember reading that the screens should never be higher than the plates. I could use some help on where to look. BTW, The amp sounds sooo much better with a choke.. Thanks,...

Re: DC heaters

Have you tried riasing the ac heaters to a positive DC offset via the centertap? Stew Yes I have usually to 70 or so VDC. many times and is an improvement most of the times but DC heaters is much better except it buys you nothing in helping the max heater to cathode limits. Have I tried the Switchi...

Re: DC heaters

What is the advantage of these. I have someone that wants an amp built and they have requested DC heaters, what are the advantage of these? I am assuming you have to rectify the 6,3v filament wires to straight DC. would this require a half wave or full wave rectfier? Switching power supply is the e...

Re: enlighten me please

As i said earlier, i WANT less gain, not more. So this is a good thing. I don't have a scope nor do i know what tube cad is. I was just curious as to why the gain starting with the cathode going straight to ground and gradually adding resistance goes up, then at some point goes down again. Seems so...

I second that and according to the creator is is more accurate than spice

Re: Second Master Volume

Thanks for the idea Jana although not quite what I'm trying to reproduce. My layout is like the attached schematic. The problem, I think, is that signal is bleeding back through the pot that is supposed to be off. What's the simplest way to switch and not get the bleed? A different type of switch o...

Re: A better amp Prototyping platform

Geeese why is everyone so slap happy patent crazy.
The Duncan amps had removable PC cards as well with the tubes on them.
The problem is I don't have faith in any connectors, connectors corrode and oxidize. The Egnater thing is a great idea but boy are those some heavy amps.

Re: Is it possible to unwind a power trans to lower voltage ?

You can always add a series transformer with the secondary in phase or out of phase to boost or to buck, unwinding is a pain since you need to undo all the laminations

Re: presence ala. peavey

I had a conversation with a guy at a jam about the presence and resonance controls on his peavey...... that got me to look into the circuit...... now its just as one would expect...... a 5k (4.7K) resistor at the end of a long tailed inverter with a cap(s) going to ground controled by a pot. the re...

Re: Where does sustain come from?

OK, so I was messing around last night with my amp (a Dumble clone) and I cranked up all the preamp gain stages all the way but I set the level to the power amp section as low as it would go. The resulting sound was very distorted (in a good way) but the overall volume was quite low (you could easi...

Source for the threaded inserts?

Anyone have a source for the threaded inserts to install into the chassis that humble has used for the mounting bolts?

Never mind I used the search function
