Suitable transistors for Tonebender Mark 1?
Hi I bought a TB MK 1 clone a while ago as I didn’t want the hassle of going through auditioning a multitude of Ge PNP transistors in order to build a TB MK 1. However, the pedal does the Velcro/spluttering thing in spades and I was disappointed as that’s not a sound I have a lot of use for. Rather ...

Celestion Peacemaker?
I noticed that Celestion has introduced the Peacemaker speaker. It has a much lower efficiency of 86dB instead of the customary 100dB. This speaker would SEEM to have Trainwreck Express all over it as they are incredibly loud.

Re: ENGL E350 circuit and layout anyone?
Sorry that I didn’t see your message sooner. If I ground the input to the effects loop the amp is dead quiet. So I thought the issue is in the preamp somewhere. I haven’t given up on the idea that it’s a design fault, as I haven’t heard another E350 amp and nothing seems wrong on the amp. ENGL are c...

The last few days I haven’t been able to log into Amp Garage. I turned my iPhone off for a while and was able to log in.

Thanks for your recommendation, I will look into it.Tone Lover wrote: ↑Wed May 07, 2025 6:44 pm Sloclone forum would probably have the info your looking for Mark.
I drew out a rough circuit that shows the real circuit and values as opposed to the ENGL E350 circuits online. I may do a better version later.

Re: ENGL E350 circuit voltages
Okay, got it, no one has a E350 diagram and layout. Thanks for looking at my post anyway. I would like to post some information to assist others fixing the E350 amp. The amp mentioned a 230Vac primary and when taking the measurements mains voltage was 239.7Vac Rail voltages. B+1 (o/p txer primary ct...

ENGL E350 circuit and layout anyone?
Hi I’m still working on a ENGL E350 classic valve 50 amp. I do have the attached circuit but it’s not particularly accurate. The amp has a strange noise issue, where there is a swooshing sound which is louder in the hi gain channel, that would be normal, except I have the gain controls all the way d...

Re: Bright cap on Blues Junior?
There's also a "dull" cap at the end of the preamp right before the master volume. I tend to pull both out and replace them with a plate bypass cap on the final stage of about 680pF. Gives a more natural high end in my opinion. Thanks for your comment, the dull cap wasn’t in the amp. It may have be...

There should be pictures here of people who have done that.RockinRocket wrote: ↑Sun Apr 27, 2025 12:06 am If I had to have a handle Id probably have a hand hole cut out of the sides of the cab.

Re: Late to the Trainwreck party, gonna build one anyway.
FINALLY got the cabinet built. Still need to decide on a handle for it. My cabinet builder had a slight misunderstanding. Originally I wanted only the face panel to be blue, and leave the rest of the cabinet in a more natural maple color range. But honestly I like this better! Nice looking cab, did...

Re: New Trainwreck style PCBs
I wonder if you will do another Express PCB that allows the tapped plate resistor like the Komet amps. Then there is the choice between the two 1000pF or 2200pF and the other possible value a 4700pF cap. The amp sounds quite different when the cold clipper is bypassed. The bass response is huge from...

Re: Trainwreck power supply/filter cap board
Richie built his Express using two can cap too. It was quite a neat layout.Matthews Guitars wrote: ↑Thu Apr 17, 2025 8:53 pm Rather than use the six capacitor bank, I went with two multisection canister caps in my Express build. And I'm glad I did.
CE manufacturing makes the appropriate types.

Re: A most unusual triode circuit
I had thought of using a 1.5K instead of the 8.2K as rightly or wrongly to my ear the 1.5K value sounds fatter. 8k2 is pretty cold bias, even with the 270k plate load. I would consider 220k plate and 3k3 cathode. So I figure the cap has to be wired in with the wrong polarity. I have this strange fe...

Re: A most unusual triode circuit
The drawing illustrates my understanding of your explanation. Is this what you mean? Yes, that's it. The 8k2 is functioning as both bias and feedback resistor, so to do it like the Champ you'd need to add another one as shown below. The bass response is very slightly increased, but otherwise it's e...
