Re: Support for Concorde Project
Guess since the tax wars some companies aren't willing to deal with european customers anymore. For the Chassis I would simply take a pre drilled JTM45 housing - it's close enough to the Komet - that's at least what I did. InMadOut does custom orders as well. You might find some other guys for a sma...

Re: Komet's Concorde
Thanks for the response!
Yeah that would make sense, I just didn't expected a cap to have enough space under the board.

Re: Komet's Concorde
Loving the tones that come out of those Komet K60 and K50s for years, I'm curious about the big 220u reservoir cap that can be seen on this K50 gutshot. With solid stage rectifier, 100u pretty much is the highest standard values I usually see in amps. My LLM tells me it's not safe for the PT having ...

Re: Transformers for Komet Style Amp? JTM45 set useful? Technical differences?
Thanks for your replies! Well in the meantime I got myself a Ceriatone Expression second hand and experimented a litte. I replaced the parts to basically have a K60 but with the 6K6 OT and 300-0-300 PT. The cool thing about the Ceriatoe OT is that it can be wired for 5k as well which would be betwee...

Transformers for Komet Style Amp? JTM45 set useful? Technical differences?
Thinking about building (or getting preassembled) a Komet K60 I tried to contact Heyboer for the Transformers. As they didn't responded I was looking for some alternative sources and would appreciate your opinions and experiences. The specs of the Heyboer as far as I found are: power: hts-8593 rh365...

Re: What to do with left over Triode in Express circuit?
Have a look at the Komet Concorde circuit, it uses the unused stage as a cathode follower after the cold clipper. Like written, I tried that and wasn't too impressed. In the sloclone forum we developed an idea with parallel 3rd stages to target odd and even order harmonics by split Ra and Rk for wa...

Re: NFB and presence control on a standalone preamp?
The Bogner Fish preamp takes use of a local negative feedback around the dc coupled cathode follower. On one extreme setting, the presence control takes out the 22n cap that and basically feeds back the signal in full range through 2Meg feedback-R. On the other extreme highs and mids are dimmed so o...

What to do with left over Triode in Express circuit?
Currently I'm thinking about getting an Express kit since my last build is a view years ago. I wanted to ask you guys, what you have done with that left over triode as I hate unused triodes in my amps. In my last Trainwreck kind of amp, I tried a parallel input stage and a dc coupled cathode followe...

Re: Clean preamp circuit with bright input stage?
The Vox Top Boost circuit has a fully bypassed cathode resistor on the input stage.
I would need a clean channel with a 470n bypass cap instead of 22u.

Re: Clean preamp circuit with bright input stage?
Thanks for the suggestion. The Hiwatt could be a an interestig circuit. GT Soul-O clean channel is another candidate but has the tone stack after the first stage and I can imagine it would be too bright for me. I have seen simulations of the Hiwatt EQ but never used it before. I usually tend to pref...

Clean preamp circuit with bright input stage?
Hi guys, I'm currently planning to replace the circuit of my 3 channel 19" preamp with a new circuit. The Crunch and Lead channels are already defined and share a 150k / 1k5, 470n input stage together with the clean channel. I wanted to ask you guys if someone has good experience with a 2 stage clea...

Re: Bridged T Mid Control
Lately I was playing with the Tone Stack Calculator to see how I can take use of a bridged T mid control in a simple James stack. I came up with this arrangement which is basically a sum up of the controls of the first post's schematic. As already mentioned before, it's quite lossy so I highly recom...

Re: Bridged T Mid Control
The control would have a deep mid cut while the dual pot shifts the notch from left to right. Theoretically cool but very lossy in practice I would guess. Probably more useful in clean amps as in high gainers.

Re: Mixing Channels with Virtual Earth?
I once tried an anode mixer and it didn't worked for me. I married a two stage with a four stage channel in front of a shared tone stack but I had squealing problems.
Anyway, an anode mixer isn't an option here and not of my interest.
