Re: "A box later" Dumble
Got a lot of "Popular Electronics" to read thru from the 60s & 70s  https://deramp.com/swtpc.com/PopularElectronics/ Also looking up Barcus Berry schematics but I don't think I've come across anything good so far. That 2k pot is throwing me off as a usable level pot. Lowest I've seen is 10k i...

Re: "A box later" Dumble
Best I could do altering the 640x480 images shot on the Sony Cybershot camera
metadata says 2003 so it's possible that's the best resolution that might be available... I hope not tho! ![🤞🏻](//twemoji.maxcdn.com/2/svg/1f91e-1f3fb.svg)

Re: "A box later" Dumble
(thanks again, @ayan!!) I agree this is likely a very simple op amp circuit. The LM741 does seem to fit the bill of the era too. I'm happy to sponsor and make available the boards in open source format if that helps motivation here. As for the initial power supply, Aion Electronics has a neat +/- 15...

Re: "A box later" Dumble
Thank you for posting Ayan! Maybe we can use LND150's for this circuit. G. I believe the lnd150 version has been accomplished by TTown and in other places https://el34world.com/Forum/index.php?topic=13857.0 We can assume and build a very dense bi polar power supply, so effort towards the main signa...

Re: "A box later" Dumble
Hey Ryan, I think you are on the right track. It's going to be all speculation unless someone decides to share more info or pictures. Personally, I am pretty well convinced it is solid state rather than tube based. Attached is my marked up picture. I have always thought the screws in the red were t...

Re: "A box later" Dumble
Happy New Year everyone!! I am revisiting this after some thoughts on and off over the last year or so getting to know more about the circuits made available by the community. I don't think the electronic circuit books that Dumble referenced back when the "a box later" was built (guessing circa 70's...

Hopefully over the winter I'll be tackling this. I even acquired an original 1960s PT to compare to a new production Hammond for voltages, etc.

I think this is one of the best threads on TAG! Maybe it's seemingly not interesting because it is more scientific and conclusive versus building hype around mojo components by cork sniffing
@dbharris - keep up the incredible work. Wow..
Would this be a way to see shot noise too?

Re: Chinese built Steel String Singer *clone*
Neat design-wise. It looks like it's a Ceriatone-style SSS and costs more. There is this one too with 6 preamps I think by Grand amplifiers out of China. I was kinda hoping someone from China would rip off my SSS #002 build info so I'd stop getting requests to build them ![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

Re: Question on the Precision power board?
I believe it's a choice of one or the other. The 47uf is effective ~23.5uf 630v (series capacitance) https://www.khanacademy.org/science/physics/circuits-topic/circuits-with-capacitors/v/capacitors-series I'm not the most versed in ODS circuits but I believe that's correct. (Team, correct me if I'm ...

Cool review and neat that you checked the voltages! I've been curious about this one and seems to be a hit! Thanks for sharing!
