Re: #40 resistor choice
Quick question : on #40 layout, bias calls a 3k3 droping resistor. I will be using a Fender A-036958 PT with a 60V bias output winding. On Xtian's HRD to ODS conversion schematic he uses a 1k5 droping resistor but he's also using the 60V supply to power the relays. What value would you suggest for t...

Re: The Legend has passed
Shocked yesterday when I read the news. He was the common denominator in all the great musicians I loved for tone and expressiveness, way before I heard about his amps or knew about the man himself. I got into building amps because of him, studying his ideas and designs and chasing those fantastic t...

Re: Low plate , low wattage combo amp ( EL91)
Hey Bepone, you are full of surprises! Love to hear about different tubes on the power section. On my Dumble journey that started a few years ago, I bought a ceriatone Dstyle 20w from a friend. I It was really deceiving, clean sound was ok but very flat and drive was barely what feels like a Dstyle ...

Re: #40 resistor choice
Not the prettiest job, but it should work properly and I have a good clearance under the terminal.

Re: #40 resistor choice
@Richard1001 yup I want to be cautious with the mains wiring as well, hence my question. In this build I chose to use a single 3 position switch that does off, standby and On. So I only have 2 SPST available. I realize there is always some improvisation in a build. @brewdude, it is never too late to...

Re: #40 resistor choice
Moving in slowly... I have a question about the use of a 3 lug terminal for the live and neutral connections. Is there any code, precaution, I should follow beside the obvious? Do I need to raise the terminal so it is further from the chassis? Do I need to isolate it from the chassis? I have seen th...

Re: #40 resistor choice
@Martin, @Richard1001 thanks for the clarification
.
@tony an IMG is worth a thousand words, and maybe more if it is a pic of Mr Dumble's work![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)
@bepone, name a price![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)
Got the RG59 in place, enjoying every bit of it!

Re: #40 resistor choice
@ChopSauce, thanks for the reference, I did not know there was a tool for aluminum sheets. They call it "grignoteuse" in Quebec as well, but the English word is nibbler. @Richard1001, thanks for the info ! Does the thickness of the aluminum sheet matters? Would the aluminum tape and 0.5mm aluminum s...

Re: #40 resistor choice
Hey Richard1001, thanks for your feedback. I bought an aluminum sheet that I cut with a small sawblade, it was a nightmare to do, took forever, result was not super clean... I tried to put it on top of the a running amp and hear if there was any difference, but could not tell. is it only to isolate ...

Re: #40 resistor choice
Hey ChopSauce, thanks for the kind words! @talbany, I will build a bread board ODS size, I feel like there are so many combinations and I don't build that many amps to explore as much as I would wish. On my build list for 2022, I plan something like this in order to play with caps orientation and re...
