Joe at http://amplates.com/ did a lot of nice work with the ax84 community. I'd bet he could do what you want. He can also do things like custom grill cloth.
I also think you could do them at a place like TAP Plastic or even Kinkos, with varying levels of human interaction.

Re: Long Plate verses Short Plate
I've had a few EI 12ax7s that had a weak triode. Some of my EI 12ax7s probably would have been microphonic in a high gain combo. That said, I don't usually play extremely high volume and tend to only use heads and cabs, and these things have performed extraordinarily well. The other thing is that un...

Re: Long Plate verses Short Plate
That was great, Steve. I have wanted to ry the TJFM tubes and also the PSVANE tubes. TJFM's factory is up north and PSVANE's is near Shenzhen, and is not the Shuguang factory, as I understand. Both make "treasures" types of tubes. A lot of tube sniffers really like both of the brands for audio. They...

Re: Guitars...what are you guys playing with TW and Dumbles
In order, these are the guitars I play through my 124-ish clone: 1. Rickenbacker 650c (mini humbuckers- good frequency content, rolling back the volume cleans up nicely- incredibly versatile) 2. Rickenbacker 660 (single coil- really cuts through and sounds great) 3. Fender Strat (a good one- very st...

Re: What EL84's do you like?
Okay, back to the original topic... The best EL84s I own are EIs. I have a few left from the good years and guard them heavily. They are not the most rugged, so most of the time I use Shuguang (Chinese) EL84s. I have some older EL84s from the USA that probably sound better than the Chinese ones, but...

Re: Once again, laid off.
Just so you guys know, there is a really big and famous software company on the eastside in the greater Seattle area that also makes a lot of hardware/devices and is increasingly dependent upon that. There are lots of jobs in most disciplines, which is why I stayed in the area when I was laid off by...

Re: Long Plate verses Short Plate
I do not go full volume and would carry short plates with me if I did. But I tend to use long plates for everything I can. I know, I'm kinda nutty that way. I find that much of the "magic" of one tube over another is how lively it is- how close to the edge it is. Some is how much full frequency deta...

Re: Once again, laid off.
I've been through that. Not fun. Here are some successful strategies that have helped me survive: 1. Networking is the most important thing. Call in favors from past karmic investment (I have worked hard and helped other people in my past and they have helped me return to the employed or at least gi...

My heart goes out to you, Tom and to the rest of you. ADusty was an amazing, brilliant runt kitty that was with us for 20 years. I can't imagine that there has ever been a cat with more attitude. She had an incredible, full life- she traveled with me, she killed lots of stuff, she made animals of ev...

Re: Coolest Old School Rack Gear
I still have an HM-4, but it's been a few years since I used it. I got it for vocals, originally, but I found that I didn't like it so much for that application. It sounds very cool on a distorted guitar. Especially where it gets confused about what the fundamental is- surprisingly great effect. I ha...

Not worried, usually turns out to be hyperbole. Besides, we kinda got 11" in 2008 on the eastside.

Re: Ei 12ax7 smooth plate nos
The Ei long plate 12AX7 is my favorite modern tube. I snagged a bunch after the factory closed. At the urging of another builder, I finally tried some New Sensor LPSs, and was still pretty happy. I have a pair of Brimar CV4004s that I like most. More of everything. A few Telefunken pulls that still ...
