Re: 6g2 blocking distortion at high volume

ok, I physically flipped the two 12ax7s and rewired. here are better pics. I do recall when testing for the first time using 1/2 watt 470R 6v6 stoppers and not noticing the fuzz. Then I read that you need 3 to 5 watters in there. Does this make sense, or was it just my lack of sleep

Re: 6g2 blocking distortion at high volume

With a plate voltage at 320v I biased at 70% but if you turn up the trem intensity, the bias current dives down. Is this just a normal thing? I suppose I should turn the sockets 180 degrees, I realized it later. Here is a better pic of voltages.

Re: 6g2 blocking distortion at high volume

I have a 470k stopper on phase inverter pin7, helps a little. I changed post PI caps to .047, did nothing, in fact made it worse.

6g2 blocking distortion at high volume

Hey all, I've got a princeton build here that gets all farty and buzzy after 3:00 on the volume knob. You can actually hear the double tremolo beat at this point too. I've got the 470R 5 watt grid stoppers and 1.5K screen resistors in place. Speakers all good, tubes good. What else can I do? or is t...

Re: marshall sv20h hand wired clone

That's what I mean, I could not see spending that kind of dough. I have experience building amps and I'm looking for a low watt hot rod plexi amp

marshall sv20h hand wired clone

I was curious if anyone has tried to hand wire an sv 20. Seeing that they want soo much for them, I may clone one have a class 5 here that I've been messing with and the quality of the innards is shockingly cheap. I'm not sure if the sv is the same, but I can do better for that price. Thoughts?

WHAT A BEAST!

I think I've finally thing I'm finished tweaking out my 420 Express and after playing it through a 2-12 GB cab WITHOUT the cheap attenuator. All I can say is it's alive. Who could possibly play this thing without a visit from the police is beyond me. I can't believe all this from a pair of 6v6s. Ser...

How to go about selling a trainwreck clone

I've build a nice looking and working trainwreck express clone and it\s not really my cup o tea. Looking for advice on possibly selling or trading.

Trainwreck Express oddity?

I have a trainwreck clone that I built last year. I've tweaked it to my liking but one thing remains. Under moderate to heavy overdrive, as the note or chord decays, there is a phase shifter type sound that follows. It's sort of UNIQUE and I don't mind it but I'm wondering what causes this.

Re: New trainwreck clone HOWLING

Yes, I've tried a 12au7 in v1 and PI and it sounds very plexy like. I think I'll ask santa for an attenuator.

Looks like a quick test seems that worked. I will try it in a more real situation. Thank You
