It would seem that putting them in series would reduce the power dissipation per device.
With two, each would drop half the volts and would each have the same current thru them so half the power, no?

Lower voltage rating, again check data sheet?

Re: Isolating jacks from the chassis
Ya, I see the site appears down now. I believe I saw their price was $0.066 each. Maybe check back in a day or so. They stock several Keystone items but you must know the part # you want as the site is not very browse friendly.

Re: HRP_50
Thanks for all the comments! Ya the neon glows for a bit when everything is warming up keeps the CF from an early demise. I think this one flashes at about 67 volts or so. you placed the 100 pF cap on the 220K resistors as per schematic it is placed over the plate resistors off the PI Ya I gotta mov...

Re: HRP_50
Well got the chassis done just in time for a present to myself. Wow, this thing does just grab you by the yaya's! I'll be suffering (more) hearing damage, no doubt. I don't want to change a thing in it, thanks for the encouragement Mark. Yes it is bright, but not ice pick bright, just easy to get ou...

Re: HRP_50
@PDF64 - 3K2 xfmr, I just thought having the safety resistor on the main spkr out switched pole made sense i case forget to plug spkr in or bad cable. @ Steveo - I dunno. I have never tried a passive fx loop either way and this is how Mark Fowler did it on the units he built, so that is what I went ...

Re: HRP_50
Added the layout I intend to use to original post, modified the skat a bit too. Managed to fit everything on a 17" board, had a local tin bender make a 20" chassis.
Faceplate and BOM next.

Re: HRP_50
All good input to think about.
Design is not mine, just following on what others have done, still have to finish the layout.

Re: HRP_50
Wow, that looks like a lot of fun to drive. But, THREE treble peakers?!? Two with 1000p caps? Well, it has been described as a harmonic monster. Might have to wear a mask just to keep my face on when I fire it up. + it is wasted half tube? Yes but that is not so uncommon as in some TrainWrecks, eh?

So I drew a schematic. Mostly the DBM/Mark Fowler HotRodPlexi, some minor changes. Bass pot using all 3 legs, Hammond Iron, Presence wired to keep DC off the pot, PS dropping R's changed because I tried to use Duncan's PSU designer... Anything that should be changed before I work a layout and commit...

Thanks for the reply Mark.
One other thing, did you elevate the heaters on your builds?
I am collecting parts and making a full schematic, would it be Ok to post?
Joe

Re: 50w Hot Rod Plexi AFD #39
@Mark Fowler Hey Mark I was going to start a HRP 50 build and have a couple questions if you wouldn't mind? In comparing the DBM sketch to your gutshots it looks like you dropped the 1000pF (C12) on the Mid pot wiper to gnd, the bass pot looks like it is connected as a variable resistor (2 legs) rat...
