Re: If KF was building an amp today, what tubes would he use?

I know you requested new production. I used JJ 12ax7's for several years and recently decided to try NOS tubes. I believe Ken's favorite tube was a Tungsram. I purchased both a NOS Tungsram and Telefunken and placed them in the amp one at a time. Tungsram in V1 was an immediate difference and great ...

Re: PVC caps... where? Which?

I just replaced my Mallory 150's with Mallory PVC's. The PVC's were a noticeable improvement. I highly recommend the effort to find them. BTW, the Mallory 150's replaced the OD715's. That was an improvement also.

Re: Airbrake build question

Hey Photios, After I thought about it, I think you would be ok to wire the selector switch as indicated on the build info; just by-pass the rheostat and capacitor going straight to the adjustable resistor. When you select either the bedroom position or the one preceeding it on the selector switch, t...

Re: totally off topic, but anyone ever played a Bogner Shiva?

At first I was confused and thought this post was occuring on the Gear Page or else someone was playing a joke here. Then I see it's you Funk!!! It must have been real hard to pay for a PCB amp knowing you could make your own and do it PTP. Therefore I have to conclude, the Shiva must be a damn nice...

Re: Help needed with dropping string

Just for debugging purposes try the 150K resistor. If it solves your voltage issue, very likely you can figure out a way to mount the resistor to ground without putting it on your PS board, e.g. terminal tree. If it doesn't solve your problem you can consider other possibilities.

Stocked by Mouser, P/N 690-D4G0303N, $18.90
Looks like they are $24.45 now. Funk, I wish you could remember where you bought them for $15 too.

Cool tutorial Normster. Surprising how it wasn't that long ago when this forum started and now anyone who wants the Dumble sound at a reasonable price can simply build one with a picture tutorial.

Re: Dumbleator Chassis

Glad to see the transformer size as well. Having never seen one before, I was a bit worried too. Funk, can you share some of the details for the units you pictured. Is it correct that Dumble made a couple different versions of the Dumbleator, single and double channel? I would love to learn more.

Re: Dumbleator Chassis

The par-metal units look good to me and $46 is reasonable. Not much of a break though for quantity pricing. It might be best if we just get them individually since mailing costs would probably exceed any quantity pricing advantage. Thanks for the schematic help Bob-I and the reference to the PS pic ...
