Re: Help! Matchless Spitfire Inspired clone
So how are you liking the tone now that you got the amp sorted out? Yes, I’m really enjoying it, it can go from beautiful cleans to really dirty. I’ve always played Fenders, guitars and amps, so I’m searching for my sound in this one. Trying it with other speaker and guitars will help to understand...

Re: Help! Matchless Spitfire Inspired clone
Hello, Just to inform that the problem of hum was fixed but oscillation came again and I had to do some alterations to the layout. I’ll share what fixed my problems: Moved the v2 away from the v1; Sold the grid stop resistors directly on v1; Install 500pf snub caps. I’ll share some photos. Thank you...

Re: Help! Matchless Spitfire Inspired clone
First of all let me thank you all, the problem seems to be fixed. I’ll post some pics for you guys to see, I’ve wired the heaters against the back of the chassis and kept the leads short. The amp is now working fine, no oscillation and a normal hum on high volumes. C79C1742-0179-4828-921B-8704C84B2E...

Re: Help! Matchless Spitfire Inspired clone
I change the heaters wiring, followed Phil advices and arrange them like seen on the link he sent me, the hum dropped to acceptable sound, only in real loud volumes is that is heard.
I’ll give it a try on the coax cable.

Re: Help! Matchless Spitfire Inspired clone
Just to update on the situation... hum is now on acceptable levels, but I’m experiencing oscillation.
The problem is the treble control, I can only dial it till half. After that I get oscillation on the master and volume, around 80 or 90%.
Any advice?

Re: Help! Matchless Spitfire Inspired clone
I´m really glad for your help. I´ve been messing around, soldering over and over again, searching for bad connections and components. What I´ve found so far is; If I pulled the first tube I don´t get any noise, the amp is quiet. With volume and master open and Tone closed, I don´t get the hum or his...

Re: Help! Matchless Spitfire Inspired clone
I don't know what is making the squealing noise. I suggest it is all related to the first gain stage, somewhere between the input jack and the cathodes of V1. The input jack lead dress (how the wires are run) is done poorly. The wires are much too long. I would remove both red wires and the white w...

Re: Help! Matchless Spitfire Inspired clone
First of all, let me thank you all for the help. I´m now, after rewiring the V1, getting a new symptoms, with the controls maxed, and the guitar volume as well, I´m getting feedback, without playing. Can figure out what is happening, can the pots be the problem? I used mini pots, not those 24 mm tha...

Re: Help! Matchless Spitfire Inspired clone
... It’s a 60hz hum, I’m sure of that, the strange thing is that it reacts with the pots, especially the master and tone, it grows with them being dialed to full position. This is an amateur's diagnosis. Others here have pro status, so take what I say with a grain of salt. There is some bleed over ...

Re: Help! Matchless Spitfire Inspired clone
Its hard to tell but zooming in your first filter cap (F&T) looks like it says 330 but its smudged so Im unsure but that should be either 30 or 33uF depending on which layout you stuck with. It’s a 33uf capacitor, I used two 33uf and two 22uf. The decoupling capacitors are .001 and .002, didn’t use...

Re: Help! Matchless Spitfire Inspired clone
Touching the v1 gives me crackles and noise, but it doesn’t affect the noise, the wiring was all done twice, but without any improvement. I wired the pot as is in the layout. I followed the following two layouts: CF8DDB9B-7869-4C1C-AB2C-4EFF06D18C49.jpeg 1DBE0FAB-B678-4225-8121-07FA9257910C.jpeg
