Re: Heater Center Tap resistors Popping
I ran the amp up this evening with the speaker cab hooked up and a guitar plug in. The clean channel I had both the volume and master at 10, no issues and it was surprisingly quiet. Drive channel with all knobs at 10 I started getting some very high frequency oscillation sitting on top of some feedb...

Re: Can you identify these riffs?
I posted this on TeleDepot too because it’s killing me. The first riff is Just Got Paid by ZZ Top.
Second riff is still up air.

Can you identify these riffs?
I’m sure a few of you seen the video of Dumble playing with Henry Kaiser. There’s two riffs Dumble plays in this video that sound awful familiar to me that I can’t place and it’s driving me nuts now. One starts at 1:58 and the other at 7:19. If you can stomach enough to listen to Kaiser play again h...

Re: Heater Center Tap resistors Popping
Yeah honestly when they first popped I thought the OT failed. And then when I measured the heater voltages I got 90vac referenced to ground but when I lifted the pt heater wires I only got 7vac and I was like what the hell...lol

Re: Heater Center Tap resistors Popping
So I opened up the dummy load box and as suspected the resistors are toast. I never had much faith in those considering I ordered them from Amazon. I ordered some new ones from mouser and when they get here in a few weeks I’ll try to test again. Until then I’ll just enjoy the amp. And thanks Tony th...

Re: Heater Center Tap resistors Popping
It think that the most likely cause is a power valve with an intermittent short to its heater, eg g2-k. Can the fault be provoked whilst the amp is running via your light bulb limiter? Try a known good, alternative set of power valves. I tried a different valve set and it produced the same results ...

Re: Heater Center Tap resistors Popping
Hello, zero load with a signal going through the amp turned way would probably kill your OT real quick. A mismatched load turned up would do a number on your tubes first. The only way those resistors are opening up is somehow a high voltage is getting into your filament supply. What wattage are the...

Re: Heater Center Tap resistors Popping
I checked the screen and grid resistors already all were within tolerance. No burn marks or cracks on the tube sockets. I got to thinking “it’s weird” because I can make my ears bleed with this thing cranked as far as would in a basement through a speaker so maybe the dummy load box is causing the i...

Re: Heater Center Tap resistors Popping
No center tap for the filaments on the PT, I’m using a Hammond 290FX.

Heater Center Tap resistors Popping
Hey folks, I recently finished my 124 ods build (which is my first ever build) and I’ve been loving it to pieces so far but I wanted to push the amp all the way up for a run test on a dummy load to see how it holds up (or doesn’t) at high volumes to before I drag it out somewhere to play. The drive ...

Re: Dumble SSS/ODS issue ! Any Advice ?
You might be getting your oscillation from your lead dress. Chop stick the wires while the amp oscillates and listen for changes.

Re: ODS 124 switching
You know I’ve spent the last week trying to figure out where I went wrong and when I went to take the first picture to post here I found the culprit...lol The 100k resistor coming off of the second terminal of the treble pot was bent down and shorting out the third terminal...What a joke I am...haha...

ODS 124 switching
Hey gents, Been a long time creeper and now I’m a first time poster. I finally finished my ODS build over Xmas and it sounds great so far but I have some gremlins in the switches I think. Bright switch works normal. Mid boost adds a lot of volume when switched on and cuts volume when switched off, l...
