Re: 1968 Plexi component values?

Yes I absolutely agree - my interest in this is to find all the different variations and try stuff to hear for myself what difference they make and what works best for me. Still a work in progress, and it depends on the day, guitar, etc etc....

Re: 1968 Plexi component values?

Yeah those two amps in particular are interesting. Yet another odd thing about them is the split cathodes on V1 - the cathode resistors are both 820R instead of the usual 820R normal / 2.7K bright. If I am not mistaken, this would provide more gain at low frequencies than the usual 2.7k on the brigh...

Re: 1968 Plexi component values?

I went down this rabbit hole too, not long ago. The article from Roe is excellent, also see the massive amount of historical data here: https://marstran.com/Historic%20Data%20Base.htm I am not sure why, but the database only contains 50W models. Still, it should give you a pretty good idea of typica...

Do your labels as splits on the face of the chassis, then use the method in the last post here: https://forum.onshape.com/discussion/3956/export-face-as-dxf You can also right click on any face of the part and select "Export as DXF" but that won't include any inner loops in the letters which is anno...

Re: Princeton Reverb Scratch build blocking dist

I will look into the reverb mod. Looks like would need an additional parallel filtering stage cap and some resistors. You don't actually need another filter cap. I only added separate ones because the cap can I had forced all the grounds to be together and I wanted to separate them. Node "C" on the...

Re: Princeton Reverb Scratch build blocking dist

Hi 2P, I had some similar issues with my Hoffman PR build. It seems like the root cause of that nasty distortion is actually the reverb driver being overdriven at higher volume levels and going into blocking. The fix is to move it to power node C (the unused node in a stock PR) along with a couple r...
