Re: My hybrid SSS-002 build
Hi Troy, I was chatting to a friend a few weeks ago about Voller transformers. He didn’t know if they were still winding them. I was thinking of getting some made, keen to hear how your build sounds. Thanks, Aaron He prefers not to. I’ve known Paul for a while and he always seems happy to help me o...

Re: My hybrid SSS-002 build
Can you give us more details about the transformers? Where are you getting them custom wound... and would love to know if you think it really did make a difference in how the amp sounds. Hi Dan46n2, There's a few differences. In the output TX I've used a combination of output and power laminations ...

My hybrid SSS-002 build
Hey All, I’ve started my build of my #002 hybrid type clone. It’s built off of a Ceriatone chassis. I’ve designed a new front panel which incorporates dual foot switchable MVs with front panel switchable/foot switchable reverb defeat on MV2. It will be running a 12BH7 cathode driver. Most importantl...

Re: CF driver Va - Vk voltages in SSS consensus?
Update: I installed a 22k (2W) resistor in series between B+ and the CF driver anodes and dropped the voltage to 380V (B+: 435V), this calculates to 2.5mA for the CF driver. I measured the bias and the output tubes lost 1mA. I do not hear much of a difference between the high CF driver voltage and ...

Re: Switchable Power Driver Sections
Never seen a solution for your idea's. I think your idea is interesting, maybe rather difficult to implement. Erwin is right, pops might become an issue. Rapidly (dis)charging of caps is mostly the problem. Those caps in your idea would be the coupling caps leading to the CF or power tube grids. Th...

Re: Switchable Power Driver Sections
I don't think switch ratings would be a problem in this part of the amp. I think i want to switch with a relay running off of an on/off/on standby switch. I think it would make for a neat solution. That would result in a huge thunder plop. If you ever measured certain points around the PI you know ...

Switchable Power Driver Sections
I've been scouring the forum to see if anyone here has built an SSS clone with a switchable driver section, between a typical PI driver and a Cathode Driver, and can't seem to find anything. I think it would be a best of both worlds type of build, and would offer a lot of flexibility. I'm just waiti...

If I’m running combos in the studio for any length of time, I turn them on their head.
I used to have the same trouble when I used my Two Rock Crystal 40 combo.

Re: Manning filters with inductor...
Are we thinking about the design intent correctly though? Could HAD have been using the inductor to reduce/filter noise prior to the signal hitting the filter? Coils like this also offer saturation at an important part of the the signal chain (good noise). This type of saturation is the sought after...

Manning filters with inductor...
Hi All, New to posting on the forum. I was looking at an SSS UL build thread on here with the Manning filter, and it sounded great. I was wondering if anyone has looked at incorporating the inductor into this design? I’m only asking as I have an inductor coming with my parts order. Thanks in advance.

I’ve been stalking your builds on YouTube. You’ve done some amazing work!
I’m about to start a Ceriatone SSS kit. I’m looking forward to it.
