Re: First build - it's alive!

Thanks for sharing! Those sound good! They have sort of a dash of compression and chime in with the tone. Appreciate hearing them. Nice job. I think with a delay pedal they could sound really super.

Re: First build - it's alive!

Very cool! I like it. Thanks for sharing. IF you have time, interest and availability ......
I'd love to hear some sound clips.

I'm wondering how a 12AY7 or 5751 would sound in V1? OR even a 12DW7?

Re: Ab763 cathode follower question

Just tossing out an idea here in case someone is interested. This is the approach I took. I used a mosfet CF and then the "unused triode" as the recovery stage. I've got a Digitech RV-7 and a Carbon Copy delay in the psuedo active FX loop. I've been very happy with it. I find the mosfet in a cathode...

Re: Guitar Gallery Thread! Post 'em up!

Here's a couple I've built for friends in the last 6 months. The figured maple one is over a 100 yr old pine wood body taken from a 100 yr old hosiery mill in NC. It's called Millie. The mahogany body one has a neck from an acoustic guitar. I ground the heel off and fashioned it a new one. 24.75" sc...

Re: Ultimate Hammond Conversions thread

I bought a Hammond AO-44 with the hopes of using ECL84's which didn't work out. So, I decided to make it a single ended amp similar to a Fender Champ but with a 5E3 tone stack. I was able to make this conversion fairly inexpensively in that I had a speaker, tubes, wood, grill cloth and many componen...

Re: Single Buffer Effects Loop

I've done a few amps where I let the mosfet cathode follower (& sometimes a tone stack with it) be the "send" of the FX and then use a triode for the recovery of the psuedo-active FX loop. This has worked out really great for me & I'm quite pleased with this approach. In the case of the V2b on the H...

Re: Clean Tone String Pop

I think this is sometimes (not always) the case with amps with solid state rectification and less noticeable with tube rectification in my experience. My sense is the attack with solid state is quicker and less "rounded" meaning the peak of the attack is instantly there where with tube rectification...

Re: New Project

Years ago Mat in Finland posted a SE ODS with no "phase inverter." By all accounts it sounded great As an FYI, several of us on the Hoffman forum followed Mat's build and listened to his fantastic sound clips .................. and then tried building his SE amp using 6L6's. It didn't come close to...

Re: There are 35 Dumble type pedals out there...

I will simply trust that this is an excellent pedal. Having said that, both videos on the website have the pedal going into a Dumble style amp while claiming the pedal sounds like a Dumble amp. :? In addition to that, the 2nd video looks like a loaded up pedal board going into a Dumble style amp. My...
