Thanks. I think it was his work that was inspiring me.pdf64 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 21, 2021 4:13 pm There’s a guy on TGP, Coolidge, that comes up with some great work in that vein, eg https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index ... t-32100773

Re: Hybrid turret board / PCB?
Yes & yes. But only on prototypes or proof of concept builds.... If anything, it's nothing more than a breadboard if you're going to keep tweeking it. And if that is the case....I'm wondering at what point does it become a 'player' rather than a project. Been down that road....it only leads to sorr...

Hybrid turret board / PCB?
Just wondering if anyone here had built a hybrid turret board / PCB. If so, did it work well? Would you do it again? I'm tempted to do one for a future build so that things like relays, radial filters, etc, can be more easily accommodated, while keeping the advantages of turrets for component swappi...

Re: RELAY ORIENTATION: "BOTTOM VIEW"
Thanks, Viperdoc, for creating this thread. Orientation "bottom view" had been driving me crazy designing a small relay PCB. Now all is clear. Cheers!

Re: Relay switching 2 Master Volumes. Best practice?
Thanks pdf64, hadn't thought of that disadvantage of Plan A. Good point! I had been thinking about only switching the wipers using only one half of the relay, but I had been wondering about possible negative effects of leaving the pot tracks always connected. Doesn't the inactive pot act as a resist...

Re: Relay switching 2 Master Volumes. Best practice?
No opinions? :) One possible advantage of the Plan A option, from a layout perspective, is that the Treble to MV wiring can be kept on the pots themselves. Therefore, I would only need shielded wire from the MV wipers to the relay. Not sure there's any need for shielded wire to Ground in this setup....

Relay switching 2 Master Volumes. Best practice?
Wondering which of these methods is better for switching between two independent master volumes in a Marshall style build. My so-called "Plan A" uses the DPDT relay to switch in/out the MV pots' wipers and grounds. "Plan B" switches in/out the MV pots' inputs and wipers. Is one way better than the o...

Re: Benefit of dual ganged gain pot controlling 2 gain stages?
Thanks for the replies everyone. After posting my question I started to think more about this and came to the same conclusion, ie that it allows smoother control over low gain settings. I also wondered whether it helps to get a clean (ish) tone that would otherwise be difficult to achieve in a singl...

Benefit of dual ganged gain pot controlling 2 gain stages?
Earlier this year I built an Orange-Marshall mashup, marrying an OR-15 preamp with JCM800 style PI and power section. Took a bit of effort to make it work, but it sounds great and I’m happy with the end result. One feature of the OR-15 preamp (Dark Terror and Rockerverb, too) is the use of a dual ga...

Re: New build - Dual Channel Dual Mode 2204
Thanks for the photo and info. Looks great! Yes, I wondered if the 47R resistor was worth the trouble, so it's interesting to hear that you decided to remove it. Thanks for the good info re the FET boost, too. I have a build coming up that will use one, so I may try your method with the higher value...

Re: New build - Dual Channel Dual Mode 2204
Very cool build, Snicksound. I know you no longer have the amp, but do you have any guts photos you could share? Curious to see the final board and layout. Also, I have a couple of questions, if you don't mind: 1. The 47R resistor after the rectifier, how did you arrive at the value? 2. About the FE...
