Re: Rocket / Build

Nice. Looking good.
Waiting on parts is the worst part.

Re: Rocket / Build

I just started populating the preamp board of my traditional Rocket build last night. It is 9 1/2" long by 2 3/8" wide. I got the turret board from RJ. It is also the exact same dimensions as the one I used from him on my Express, which also matches the dimensions in the Express files here... http:/...

Thanks, dblgun. Your current build is looking great as well. I really like the delrin spacers you made!

Have fun!

Canadian Rocket build

Hey everyone, Thought I would start a build thread for my Rocket project. I just recieved a box of parts from RJ. I will pair this with my Express. The build for that is here... https://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=421575#p421575 It will be a pretty traditional build. Heyboer Iron. Going to r...

Re: Reactive attenuator??

Heard that line of thinking before ;^) Making a nice neat layout takes some time and thought as well as schematic reading ability, and then some fab skills to make it real. Yours looks great! Thanks, Martin. I can play pretty loud at home, but still not loud enough to let an Express unleash in ange...

Re: Reactive attenuator??

Oh very good. That must be the layout Gene did. JohnH was hesitant to put out a layout that showed the wiring. He said it was kind of the entrance exam, if you couldn't read the schematic you shouldn't build the attenuator. I think after 120 pages or so, it was finally okayed to show the world how t...

Re: Reactive attenuator??

That thread on the Marshall forum is massive, been through it once a while ago. I see member Gene (the ballzz on TAG, I believe) has an 8-ohm version that he's happy with, and I have someone asking about an attenuator for studio use. Anybody know where the schematic for that might be? Is it the M2 ...

Re: Reactive attenuator??

I have built the one linked above (the M2 version) and use it with my Trainwreck Express clone. It works unbelievably well and was inexpensive to build. There are many, many successful builds of it and everyone seems to speak highly of it. I'm sure others from that thread will chime in here. Genebal...

Re: Help with VVR2 for Express that I fried

I had a similar issue with my Express build. I couldn't get enough negative voltage bias range, so I had to alter R29 as Martin suggests. It was suggested I change out the 220k for a 150k, I was able to parallel the 220k with a 1M to get me in the 180k range and that did the trick. With the 220k my ...

Re: Help with VVR2 for Express that I fried

I'm not familiar enough with the VVR to help with the problem, but I did speak with Dana about a year ago and he had no more boards, and was not going to be making anymore. You'd either have to salvage what you've got or maybe post a wanted post to see if anyone here has one laying around.

Re: Synopsis of Adjustable Fixed-Bias Measuring Methods, Bias Tools

As a first time builder I find this chart really useful. I've come across many of these methods, but rarely do I find decent info about how they compare to other methods, or which would be more suitable for me to use. This is a great way to see all of that in one place!
