The DR trannies were mentioned in the previous thread - are you sticking with those?
Following this with some interest. Keen to see your further progress.

Re: New Astroid 60 Build
Has anyone brought the fast/gradual switch to the front panel on a push/pull pot? I was thinking of using something like this for the treble or bass pot. Any reason why I shouldn't? Beerman I have a post http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13809&highlight= showing I put the fast/gradual swit...

Re: New Astroid 60 Build
That's real pretty fella. Nice work. I'm just getting bits together at the moment to build one of these... Just wondering where you sourced your chassis and trannies? Hey RJ,
You mind seeing if it's a problem for Heyboer to wind one of those PT's for Aussie mains? That'd be 240V/50hz.

Re: Overheating Ampeg SVT 4 Pro
I'm interested in this one too.
A good friend has one of these that does similar... although his will run for an hour.
It'd be nice if it was an easy fix.

Re: Rockster Lives!
Got it sorted. Had the HT centre tap floating - looking over some other schematics I noticed that some amps use this as a standby - IE lifting it from ground mutes the amp. Tied it to earth... It's Alive!!! Sounding great as is. Will play a bit and tweak as required, but very happy with it as is. Go...

Re: My Express combo project. Need help to find trannies...
Pacific Transformer can be found at: http://www.pactran.com/ Good luck. Thanks. Do you think they will be able to sell (and ship) only these two specific items directly to me as a final customer? Don't see why not.... there is a 'custom' link on their homepage. They sold trannies to Ken's custom de...

An update on progress
I had my PT looked at by a local tranny manufacturer - he could find no fault with it, and was quite impressed with it's build quality.... he ran it for half an hour on his test rig, with all the secondaries loaded to 120% of spec, and it barely even warmed up... Edcor trannies are the bomb! Went ba...

Re: Rockster Lives!
Actually, Beerman, you are right to question the J/J GZ34. J/J did have a problem with their GZ34 - and plenty were shipped as I understand it. In my case, I ran thru 3 of these bad ones that actually worked briefly, and then failed. I purchased mine from Eurotubes and they made good on it which wa...

Re: Rockster Lives!
Hey Rich. I do have a JJ GZ34, but this fault occurs even when the rectifier isn't installed. I got some of the way through building a test rig for the PT this afternoon so I can check for draw (ammeter in series) on the primary and voltage on all the secondaries at the same time. Will probably knoc...

Re: Rockster Lives!
Beerman - Welcome to the Rockster world... After we are sure my drawings are right, I'll make the "fixed" schematic rev available to anyone who wants it... next we can go after the layout. rj Thanks RJ. I'm Graham in Melbourne - I bought most of these parts from you just before Christmas last year....

Re: Rockster Lives!
Thanks again Mark - and RJ now too... I'm back onto my power supply issue - it looks like I have an intermittent short on the HT (300-0-300) and the 5v winding. With side loading on the leads it kept on blowing fuses. Have untwisted, and 'relaxed' all the leads, and now it works. Guess I'll take it ...
