Re: Ken Fischer Modded 72 Marshall

Ed's 12301 was not the amp we have today. It had been worked & reworked for over a decade with whatever needed replaced in it before he retired it and - pay attention, kids - sent it out to Pete Van Wheelden to be returned to stock . Now, there is a debate about how much was actually changed/reverse...

Re: What Exactly Happens When You Pull Two Output Tubes On the Same Side In A Plexi ?

he did speak to Ed early on, and apparently the supposed boiling of strings to stretch them out procedure was bogus I used to boil my strings back in the day to rejuvenate them when I was piss poor and couldn't afford to keep buying new strings. I agreed with Ed and much preferred broken-in strings...

Well, I may just throw it in the trash then 8). You can take up your complaints with Andy Fuchs. The amp sounds great and does Van Halen all day long.

Re: Ken Fischer Modded 72 Marshall

Take your pick. ..was serial no. 12302 (or is the "x" in your serial not "0"?)? No, mine isn't 12302. Dave knows the number. It was returned to stock before I bought it. Still, it has the provenance and is sooo sweet. Marshall hit on something with these and the transformers and tone stack. I'm loo...

Re: Ken Fischer Modded 72 Marshall

from Dave "Snake" Sabo of Skid Row fame. He is personal friends with Ken Fischer, as they lived close by each other in New Jersey. Ken modified this amplifier in 1986-87 by adding a master volume in place of the lower right input and, for lack of a better term, "Trainwrecked" it. It sounds just lik...

Re: Ken Fischer Modded 72 Marshall

Take your pick. I have Dave Sabo's Loco Plexi that he used to record "Runaway" and both Skid Row LPs (Skid Row, Slave To The Grind). He also toured with it. Ken Fischer modded it. It was NOT the '72 "Last Modded Marshall" that was used for these recordings and tours, it was 123x2 after Ed's 12301. ...
