Is the program calculating for a ported or sealed cabinet?
Also port size is a factor, what is the port size in the program compared to the tl806 port?

Re: SSS 002 PCBs and Chassis are now available on Ebay!!
Good to have these available but some criticisms: 1. Has "by Dumble" on it, I don't like this personally for an amp I would build. This alone makes it a PASS for me. 2. Round hole for convenience outlet, difficult to find something to put there. 3. Only a few tack welds holding it together, I'd like...

Re: DIY amp head switcher
I take it the negative speaker output should not be a common ground between all amplifiers? To avoid ground loops. That is what I am thinking. Mostly I wanted to bring it into the conversation to see if it is a concern and if so, how to best handle it. My instinct is to start with what I suggested ...

Re: DIY amp head switcher
My concern is how to do this without creating a huge ground loop. I'm thinking isolated jacks and 4PDT relays to switch grounds with signals.
To me your reasoning seems good.

Re: Lend me your ear; am I over analyzing my build?
To add to @nuke's excellent write-up: You mentioned it's only at the lower frequencies you hear it so you might want to adjust the signal generator's frequency down from the suggested 1kHz accordingly. In fact if it's frequency dependent try at several frequencies. If you see something you're unsure...

Re: 1 x 12" speaker cab for clean baritone guitar - Thiele?
Phil it's my pleasure, hope it does help. On the WGS I have, the first one didn't last long at all, less than a few hours. I was playing it pretty loud when it kind of stuttered then quit all together with an open coil. WGS was great and replaced it promptly. During this time I read that some of the...

Re: 1 x 12" speaker cab for clean baritone guitar - Thiele?
I'm not an expert but here's what I do know. A ported cabinet is designed to sound like a larger cabinet. I believe they were developed by the HiFi community. They can make for very clean sounding speaker cabinets. EVM designed the Thiele cabinets SPECIFICALLY for their speakers. I have learned that...

Re: Bluesmaster Style 100w HRM Build
Looking at power supply caps. For reservoir caps, looking at what's available in 220uF, I've narrowed it down to a Nichicon or Rubycon. The two I'm looking at are very similar in specs and price; 400vdc, 1.2mA ripple, 105°C, $6.9x, General Purpose. Rubicon Capacitor 12,000 hour Nichicon Capacitor 10...

Re: Dumble 183 output transformer 2.2k
Oh, and another thing, this on Power transformers. If you are going to use the Fender type pay attention to the output voltages. Both Mojotone and AmpPartsDirect offer these but Mojotone's are rated 20volts higher. I can verify this is true because I have both, I was pulling my hair out trying to fi...

Re: Dumble 183 output transformer 2.2k
Have you looked at Mojotone's output transformers? They're reportedly made by Heyboer. I've used them in my builds and like them. I used the 100w Fender type with 2.0k primary with 4x6L6 power tubes. They also have a 100w 1.8k Marshall type transformer for 4xEL34 tubes. For my #183 build I used Edco...

You're right, it was the camera angle.
IMO that's fine, no closer than the socket terminals.
Great looking build so far!

Re: Another SSS #002 build thread (Ryan/Erwin)
Looking good, however the 500ohm/5w resistors are very close to the Grid1 terminals on your power tubes. Those two points combine to make the highest voltage potential in the amp; Bias- to B+. That's putting a LOT of faith in the resistor coating to insulate against. If it were mine I would carefull...
