Re: Dumble 183 output transformer 2.2k

Amp Parts Direct part # APD-8026H 1.7K is what you want for #183 100 watt I built a 100 watt #183 it was to loud for stage use I did use a Dagnell C1998 from a 1968 Super Lead 100 had to use a Dumblator next I built 3 50 watt versions using Dagnell 784-139 OPT no Dumbleator required That’s interest...

Dumble 183 output transformer 2.2k

Hi everyone, I’m gearing up to build a Dumble 183 clone, and I called Chris Merren but he seems to be phasing out. I found amp parts direct and they seem to only offer a heyboer project 100watt out transformer with 2.2k primary resistance. I’m just wondering if anyone has used this transformer? How ...

Is this normal for the effects loop?

Hi everyone, I recently completed my Dumble 124 build, I learned a ton on this amp! I’ve been playing it everyday, I’m thoroughly happy with it, but when I tried to plug into the effects loop and very diminished volume. I first testing a patch cable into the send to the return on the amp, and althou...

Re: Getting plate voltages just right?

Is the 38 mA cathode current? If so you are on the cold side but not extremely so. Adjusting the bias circuit to get hotter bias will lower your voltages, or you could also consider increasing the first dropping resistor. IMO V1 plates should be 190 or a bit less. Hi Martin, yes that’s the cathode ...

Getting plate voltages just right?

Hi everyone, I recently completed a Dumble clone 124. I am just fine tuning the amp now and trying to adjust but I found a few discrepancies -the plate voltages at V1 are 206 and 205 ~The plate voltages at V2 are 209 and 212 -the plate voltages at V3 are 312 and 319 The power tube plate voltages are...

Re: New build one more problem

I got it! Thank you for all your help it was 2 resistors I had at 150k they should have been 1.5k. I’ve made so many stupid mistakes on this but it’s been an absolutely amazing learning experience for me and it makes me want to do more! I’m not thin skinned so I’d appreciate any negative feedback as...

Not this one I used a 500k trimmer in the OD so it must have been the non-1984 schematic

New build one more problem

Hello everyone, I’ve built a Dumble 124 clone, (well as close as the parts permitted me to). I am a beginner and I cannot figure out why my amp sounds really good clean and in the FET input as well, but when I engage the OD switch on the back panel I am getting clipping real bad. Plate voltages on p...

Re: New ods124 but have a problem

Thank you Martin it was a grounding issue at V1, I’m so glad I found that and now it is working. I’ve learned so much doing this project and then troubleshooting my problem! I could have never done this without the Amp Garage community! Now I’m going to tidy my wiring better. Thank you

Re: New ods124 but have a problem

So I reworked my bias pot connection and I have about-35 dc volts on my control grid, but I’m still getting severe tremolo (fast oscillation) and from what I can read on my current limiter it is drawing 30 volts to ground
