Re: Before I build a 183....
Glad you liked them. The real 183 had the JAN version of these tubes. Identical construction to the GE. Dude still has a bunch. Like $16.99 each...... I measured the ones in 183 and they all spec'ed out in the 95-102 gain area with 1650-1800 TC. In other words, decent strong tubes. The GE shorties h...

Re: smoothing the OD in 124 D. Clone
Interesting.... I always found 270K to 350K to be a sweet spot. I like the 1M as it basically takes it out of circuit if you crank it off. 500K is still very noticeable compared to no trimmer. Great ears think alike! Scott, you're right (as always) - I have a 500K in there on the treble bleed, just ...

Re: smoothing the OD in 124 D. Clone
Don't use a 100K trimmer for the post OD bleed. Use a 1M trimmer. Or at most a 500K trimmer. 100K is engaged in a big way even when all the way off. 500K would be much more adjustable to taste. Big ups on the tube recommendation. A nice Holland made 12Ax7 or a RCA long black plate woudl really impro...

Re: Quinn 183 Preamp
Great clips! Nice playing too. You have the rack dialed in nicely. Really adds a complimentary dimension to the tone. Certainly kind of proves the G1265 tone and master bright and RG400 cables thing too!

Re: Taming the Bass
I find the opposite actually. I don't like the character of the smaller bypass at all. I much prefer the slightly smaller coupler. Btw, the 1uf cuts more bass than moving to a .02 should. At least on paper. I find when I mess with the coupling caps that it sort of changes the character more than I w...

Re: Two rock custom reverb sig sounds and guts
The preamp bypass caps seem to be labeled incorrectly.
Good job on the job you have done.

Re: Two rock custom reverb sig sounds and guts
Hey Tom, This is the one and only TR Sig I have seen that has mismatched sockets. The detailed shots I have seen of others, as well as the one I tweaked, had same sockets and values.... Hey Paisley, A couple years ago I would have donated a part of my anatomy for a glimpse of the TR Custom Reverb. :...

Re: Two rock custom reverb sig sounds and guts
One other tip. Please note the 2X22M resistors paralled at the effects loop. This is the LNFB on the gain side. The real Dumble loops have 22M feedback. TR used 11M. This extra NFB dampens things and compresses things. You can try it their way but I'd also suggest trying the stock way of 22M. True s...

Re: Two rock custom reverb sig sounds and guts
Did you look under the OD network board? Sorry if I missed the pic. This is probably the single most important change to the architecture that I have seen in the TR amps. Usually a 220K into a 25K trim with a 24K tail to ground. Couple questions that i have. Did anyone need any other voltages? did i...

Re: Two rock custom reverb sig sounds and guts
What baggage? I have played a half dozen of these very amps and none compared favorably to what has already been meticulously outlined in this forum. I think it is quite helpful to make this opinion known before someone spends dozens of hours and a hundreds of dollars to copy something only to find ...

Re: Two rock custom reverb sig sounds and guts
Could not agree more. Great job on the pics, but why anyone would want to clone an amp that in my experience doesn't compare to what has been built here by members for years. I suggest following the guides here and do a real clone. Then compare to the sig and you will be surprised, imo. Paisley I pe...

Re: 100W #102 clone
My tubes were all matched that I got from Aspen. I think there is a mistake at hand. There should not be more than a few ma difference at idle.
Sorry to hear about this..... Good news is you can sell them for a profit, I think.... In pairs.

Re: Modern Eagle Amp?
Every single person who has played my RF rig has been really really impressed. It is not stiff nor bright. It is hands down the best D style rig I have played. It needs to be setup just right though. If this is done, it is the Mona Lisa of Dumbles IMO, and also for a great many others. Just ask guys...

Re: OT: Evil Robot Magnatone clone does fusion tones
Hi guys. Amp is a combo. Looks like some sort of Weber 30 watt ceramic speaker.....
JJ 6V6 output tubes. Amp is biased real hot and with close to 400V. I woudl not try NOS there!
I did however stick in a nice i61 Mullard 12AX7 in V1 and a nice RCA Blackplate 12AX7 in V2
