Re: 10" to pair with a G1265?

Wow! Really underwhelming response. I would have thought, given the somewhat opinionated nature of this group, there would have been at least one response offered...

10" to pair with a G1265?

Hi, all,

I've got a 10"-12" cabinet that I'll be playing a D'Lite non-HRM through. I've got a Weber 10A150, but it is actually a 4 ohm speaker so it is drowning out the sound of the g1265. I'm wondering what you guys might guess (or know) would be a good 10" to pair up with the Celestion?

I'd rather be playing...

Some time ago I bought a D'Lite kit. I still haven't touched it. I have so many projects that distract me from what I really ought to be doing to improve my music and tone, i.e. playing. I'm wondering if any of the fine folks here might be interested in making some money and building this for me? If...

Re: Volume boost on gain channel

Good point about the apparent volume being dependent on a number of things. Thanks!

Also, apologies for perhaps coming off as one of those OP guys who seems to think the thread is entirely for his own benefit and needs to stay 100% on topic. Didn't mean to imply that!

Re: Boost

TAD came out with an overdrive pedal called the RangeKing that doesn't compromise tone at all. It's a remake of the vintage RangeMaster pedals. They call it an overdrive but to me it is a boost pedal. Works really well and doesn't color the tone. Brian This has kind of gotten off-topic from my point...

Re: Volume boost on gain channel

What I build into my amps is two master volumes that are footswitchable with a DC powered relay DTPT switch. I think they are the 5VDC Ormrons. I also have switchable gain controls using the same relays. That gives me four combinations. High gain/low gain and high vol/low volume or any combination....

Re: help! my HRM overdrive sounds harsh

As for the questions about proper lead dress. There is a lot of theory around it, but nothing beats a blunt non-conductive utensil and one hand behind your back. You'll start to see a few cause and effect situations that you can repeat. Some cables you may think will cause issues quite often don't,...

Re: help! my HRM overdrive sounds harsh

SNIP You may think this sounds bizarre, but your lead dress around your pots and input stage is very pretty, but is akin to lining up all the tuners on your guitar in one direction. Great to look at, but thats about it. Also check the speaker secondaries or feedback wiring is completely clear of th...

Volume boost on gain channel

Probably a dumb question, but I'm famous for those. I have a Bad Cat amp with two channels. On the gain channel, when I get the distortion level right for power chords, I can't get a sufficient volume boost for lead work using a pedal...This is with the pedal going straight into the guitar input. An...

Re: Just put 6L6's in my D'Lite

P.S. to Larry. With 6L6 this OT yields impedances of 8, 4, and 2 ohms rather than the 16/8/4 using 6V6. I was hipped to this after the switch. Thanks, but I already knew this :) W/o the intention, to confuse anybody, but to make it a tad more exactly: Two 6V6's in push-pull class AB operation usual...

Re: Another Tubes 101 question

Thanks for some good responses...especially PRR's! You're a good writer, and should think about writing a book. Your explanation of the differences between classes is as good as any I have read. Why do I care? I'm curious, and I know when I don't know something. I don't know the answer to my origina...

Another Tubes 101 question

Okay, I'm not wrapping my head around a very basic concept. What determines what class (A, AB1, AB2, etc.) a set of tubes is running in? I know (?) that Class A means that the entirety of the waveform is being reproduced by all the tubes, but what I don't understand is what parameters does one vary ...

Re: to HRM or not

FWIW, I had the same debate HRM vs Non-HRM so finally decided to put them both in the amp with a switch on the back to go from one mode to the other. Also each mode has it's own master on the front panel so I can set the volume levels independently. Perfect! Just what I was hoping for. Tictac, woul...
