Can Princeton tremolo triode be replaced with a transistor?
Hello All,
Been checking more schematics to build, and noticed the princeton reverb and it look like my next build hehehe
but without reverb, the princeton's tremolo tube would be left with an unused triode, which bothers me hehe
could I replace it with a transistor?

Modified 5E3 issue when moving pups selector
Hello All, I modified a mojotone 5E3 kit, changed 0.1 uf from each channel to 47nF in normal and 22nF in bright channel, added back up diodes to the 5Y3 socket, pre PI master volume, 3 way switched feedback and added screen resistors to the 6V6s, Most of master robinette's mods, it sounds great, no ...

Re: 99% Tweedle Dee Delight
Cool!! I want to mod my mojotone 5e3 kit, idk if I should add the local negative feedback or just thebigger loop feedback from Rob Robinette's.
Will found out in time

Re: How to power transistors in a tube amp
Do you realise that a 250k send level pot totally negates the low output impedance of the preceding buffer? Nope, how so? Ohm's Law. When the pot is at maximum, the buffer impedance drives the output directly, and the 250Kpot resistance is just a resistor to ground (neglecting any wiper resistance)...

Re: new build - Cascode Micro
My $0.02 - Since a cascode is essentially a dual-triode turned pentode, why not consider a pentode/triode noval tube such as a 6GH8A? Easy to find and cheap and the pentode could give what you're hoping for tonewise plus you get a triode that could be switched for extra gain. Just a though. cheers,...

Re: 5F1 from scratch with splurry sound when saturated
Replaced vol pot to preamp tube cable with shielded condictor and the issue went away

Oscilloscope and signal generator
Hello All!
Any oscilloscope for tube amp and pedal scoping suggestions?
A signal generator suggestion will be appreciated too!
Something not too fancy, but not that cheap neither
Thanks in advance!

Re: 5F1 from scratch with splurry sound when saturated
Built another 5F1 from scratch, sounds splurry when saturated, For my first 5F1 build, I got the same issue, but splurrier, solved it by tiding cables from preamp and OT You have parasitic oscillation, possibly from wire routing, possibly from grounding. Have you read Guitar Amp Wiring Notes? Or po...

Re: SS rectifier with parallel caps
This brings up in my mind the question of why someone would put those capacitors there. I can think of two reasons off-hand. One is to "snub" the diode turn-off transient for non-fast/soft turn off diode, and the other is to force voltage sharing on the diodes during times of rapid voltage changes....

I see, thanks!martin manning wrote: ↑Wed Oct 15, 2025 10:09 pmIt does, but the capacitive reactance of the typical 10n used in that way is 265k ohms, two in series 530k.

SS rectifier with parallel caps
Hello all,
Been looking into ss rectifiers, and found the following topology in master blencowe's book
But I'm wondering why doesn't (or does?) the current flow as shown in the poorly drawn schematic attached?
Wisdom will be well appreciated

Hum in 5E3
Hello All, I built a 5F1 from scratch and it sounds fine hehe Now I tried a 5E3 from a mojo kit and it is hummy, Any recommendations to decrease the hum? https://youtube.com/shorts/QC7s09hAYOU?si=vIFj3s2QDDwbXx-M https://youtube.com/shorts/rb6FV4HxJb8?si=x-dd8_Fbgae7v0Ec https://youtube.com/shorts/a...
