Re: Type of wire
Ken used Belden 8529 wire in his amps, 20gauge solid core/ 1000v. The earlier pvc coat was called thermoplastic. You can recognize the thermoplastic because it is more porous and not as smooth as the later Pvc. He even used this 8529 in the B+ supply starting after the choke resistor.Solid core wire...

Re: Copper Panel AC30 Trem/Vib Issue
No the other 12AU7's do not work in either AC30. I used a B&K 747 tester and a the Orange valve tester. There is only one 12AU7 that makes the Trem work in both amps. This is the process I will do to try to figure this out. Re test tubes on the tester Measure voltages with the 12AU7 that makes the T...

Re: Copper Panel AC30 Trem/Vib Issue
So here is the strange thing ........ I have two Copper AC30's and I took the 12AU7 from the working Trem AC30 and popped it in non working Tremelo amp and it started working. Any other 12AU7's I placed in either amp the Tremelo does not work in either amp. I tried three different 12AU7's that all t...

Re: New Egnator SW45 amps now being sold
That is a Great Price for this amp and it looks well built.
To be honest the hand wired Boutique amp market is out of control with builders wanting $2500 and up for a amp head. I call BS on many of those builders.

Re: Fender Reverb Circuit and Reverb Pan Consistency
This what I noticed between the Accutronics and the MOD Reverb Pan that may explain a few things. The Mod Pan has two cut outs in the metal plate underneath the springs and two rubber grommets for damping the Floating part from hitting the pan. The Accutronics does not which means mechanically and a...

Re: New Sozo caps
There is no right or wrong with different caps. It is a recipe and a balance of everything else with the caps you choose. That could be type of wire, resistor type, voltages and output transformer and how they all come together. Example I had a Blackface Super reverb in the shop and it was one of th...

Re: New Sozo caps
Ok my 2 cents after watching http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4nylOtSATPk First question is the guy in the video mentioned he does not use his ears and listen but looks at the screen ? Ask yourself would a sound engineer tune a sound system just by looking a screen ? The answer is no, because a computer...

RCA 6L6GC
I just wanted to check but are the early RCA clear top 6L6GC biased different than the later larger bottle 6L6GC like the Phillips or Sylvania. I am not sure if they fall in the same class. Right now I have a Tweed Pro with 429v on the plates.

Re: Rocket vs Express
I own about 4 different types of celestions and it all depends what you are after. I can get good results with all of them.
What are you after in your tone and what music do you play mainly.
