Re: Bassman Build

Finished the build and the amp works great. I don’t think I’d buy another kit from Weber. The cabinet and chassis are great quality but customer service is not at all. The fiber board was missing multiple eyelets and I’m lucky someone responded to my email asking for a couple to be sent - they maybe...

Re: Bassman Build

Thanks, you’re right better to solder them in place. You’re right about the Weber chassis, it’s super nice thick SS but impossible to get a good bond with. Yes, there is a bolt next to PT to solder to but it’s very far from this section in the bassman. I have another picture where you can see my red...

Re: Bassman Build

Hello, The picture attached shows the speaker jacks. My question is regarding the ground tabs. They’re pretty darn tight against the chassis. Do they need to be soldered in place or is there enough contact as they are? Or should I add a bolt with ground tab to connect to? My intuition is telling me ...

Re: Bassman Build

It’s been a little while but I’ve been working on this amp slowly but surely. The kit landed about 5 weeks after ordering and is of very good quality. The cabinet and chassis look great, very good quality - the best I’ve seen in a kit so far. Attached is a picture of the board so far. I’m waiting on...

Re: Bassman Build

Thank you guys for providing this info. This morning I’m a little distracted as I’m having a procedure today and will be hospitalized for a day or so. This weekend I’ll be back to my self and deep dive into your comments. I definitely want to make sure I understand your points fully.

Re: Bassman Build

What I don't like about the Weber layout is the four electrolytic filter caps on the little standup board. Where does it ground ? Not sure. Tying all the grounds of the four caps together is bad practice. It’s hard to see in the picture I attached but they have a wire going from the last cap to eye...

Re: Bassman Build

Does the kits OT have multiple secondary taps? That’s a good thing to have with a 4-10” Bassman because it’s a loud amp with all that SPL it can pump out. With multi taps you can just run 2-10” drivers at a time for home usage. It looks a little slim on the secondaries. I've attached the drawing of...

Re: Bassman Build

Bassman Build

Hello everyone, I recently finished my AB763 and it is super fun to play. The build process was very fun and brought me back to better times when I worked on production equipment (been out of work many years with cancer...). Building the amp was a much welcomed distraction to my frustrating health i...

Re: New Deluxe reverb clone

Hey, lead dress for the plate wire (pin 1 to 6) is critical. See how it loops around the socket in Fender's layout? I ran afoul of that before, having my plate, grid, and cathode wires all taking shortest path. Caused oscillation. Screenshot 2026-02-01 at 7.26.31 PM.png So the idea here is to keep ...

Re: New Deluxe reverb clone

Thanks!! What kind of oil do you suggest? I’m happy to prevent future problems if possible. Do you apply it directly to the male and female parts?

Thanks again for helping!!

Re: New Deluxe reverb clone

So good news - I figured out the problem after I checked the third tube from right. It was an 12at7 so that was good. I unplugged the input and still had that loud squeal. Then I pulled the tank out again and wanted to see how far it needed to be to eliminate the squeal and I noticed this time, the ...

Re: New Deluxe reverb clone

There are rubber grommets on the tank. The tank is inside a tolex bag. At first, I screwed the tolex bag in place but not through the grommets holes. I have lingering neuropathy from too much chemo so I can’t feel where the grommets are through the bag but it was firmly in place. It also happens whe...
