Re: HAD is alive and well and policing ebay....
I sent an email to HAD this morning asking if he was really worried that my auction was going to in someway undermine his legacy.....I was kinda wise assed about it quite honestly, but serious too....and laid out some historical references about builders as well as musicians borrowing from one anot...

Re: How can I get Hilden's es335 + dumble tone with my OTS????
The easiest thing is to re-adjust you overdirve trimmer and try a different speaker. +1 In fact Gregor bought a Ceriatone after he sold his Dumble and also had to re-adjust the OD trim pot to get to a sweet spot he was happy with. It's a key adjustment on any D amp I've played. This thread may help...

You should consider that wall voltage was 219V when I measure this. During summer time wall voltage can go up to 230V (even more sometimes). I'm currently ...

Actually the testing could be done on your amp if you can cram your cell phone in there to see if it rings.

Re: Cover plates....worth it?
It's all about the type of fields and the frequencies. Neither aluminum or copper will be effective in shielding the magnetic fields created by the current in a 60Hz power source. The permeability of al or cu at those frequencies is about the same as air. OTOH, they both become very effective in shi...

Re: Congrats Red Plate amps Vintage Guitar Mag
For years Elvin used a BFPR modified by Owlsey Stanley. I think Elvin definately goes for the "wolf in sheeps clothing" approach. Congrats on some good press and exposure. Is Owlsey related to Owsley Stanley? Thx, Jim PS: Henry is good people. I'm very impressed with his D'lator. Owsley is a...

Re: EVM-12L Classic Reissue vs G-1265 or original EVM-12L
You've come to your own conclusions, but when I compared an original G1265 with an original EV12L on my D'Lite 22/33 I preferred the G1265. (FWIW, on the OTS, it was the other way around...I preferred the EV)

Re: FET Tone on the ODS
David Lindley weissenborn guitars used sunrise pickups, these have a very low output and usually require a buffer/preamp I've used my sunrise equipped guitar into the fet input and it did not require the buffer. Also I think if the guitar has low output pick ups you usually require some sort of pre...

Re: Ceriatone OTS not loud
Gary, I just have a scope, generator, and DMM. I never really know how much distortion is acceptable when I try to measure power...the waveform slowly gets chubby at the tips but I don't know how chubby 1% or 5% or whatever is. What does the waveform look like at 'max clean power'? Is there any not...

Re: Ceriatone OTS not loud
The measurement techique is pretty simple. 1. Insert 1 1khz into the return jack on the back. 2. Adjust the generator output level until the signal at the 4 ohm tap just starts to clip. 3. Measure the P/P signal. (I verify with a Keithly true RMS meter) 4. Divide by 2.8 5. Square the result and div...

Re: Ceriatone OTS not loud
I had one on my bench about a week ago. The most it would do at 8 ohms was about 31 watts. This was with two different different sets of output tubes (one that is known to do at least 48W). I didn't go into too deep, but probably the OT. The voltages were about right. Gary Curious how you are measu...

Re: Ceriatone OTS not loud
Relative to my Two Rock, Fuchs, and D'Lite amps, the OTS is at least as loud or louder, so it's not inherent with the amp. I don't find noon on the vol and master to be especially loud either...on any of the amps, but that's all relative. Turn them up and it will blow your hair back. Several things ...

Re: OD fuzziness
im playing a Ceriatone OTS and my overdrive is way too fuzzy. V2 snubbers are 330pF and im running my od trimmer at about 9:00-9:30 I just retubed with 12AX7's in the preamp, and 5881's in the power amp. Can anyone help get rid of or reduce the fuzzyness Where is everything else set? You should be ...
