Re: New to the board---and I have a few questions!
I use a 2x12 combo with a Weber Alnico Silver and an Alnico Blue. Both 30 watts with light doping. Sounds really great, I can get great countrish tones when rolling down the volume, and just sweet crunch when I roll up. I have an Airbrake too (which I cloned) its great to cut down a little volume, b...

Re: Current Production Tube Compliment?
The GT EL34M looks like it is sourced through New Sensor/Sovtek. It's a bit confusing. Groove Tubes has done a clone of the Mullard XF2 EL-34. They don't own the name, so as with their 12AX7, added an "M" on the end and are sold as Groove Tubes. New Sensor, who owns the Mullard name (at least in US...

Re: New newest addition to the family
Stress fractures aren’t necessarily an indication of re-fretting. My '94 with originals have stress cracks; I've also seen a few 60's 335's and SG's with stress fractures in the same spots. They started putting medium jumbos around that time period as far as I know. But if you have binding that wrap...

Re: New newest addition to the family
Hey Guys, Thanks for comments. The frets look to be newer and slightly oversized, which is fine by me. The nut has been filed down too far, so the action is set high to compensate. A new nut and setup will make this baby perfect. I have a set of cream covers on their way. A little dirt, some steel ...

dartanion: That LP looks great! I bet its a killer player too. I say leave in the P-90's and put cream covers on them! Put some tonepros: steel studs and aluminum bridge on it too if they arn't already. I have a heavily played '94 Classic Plus Honey Burst and it came alive with tonepros. My fathers ...

Re: Recommend an acoustic for me - $1500 price range
I can't emphasis enough that you buy the guitar without electronics then put a K&K pure western mini in there. You'll never regret it. " but the D-28C was MUCH nicer ." Yeah, well. Whatever you do, DON'T play any of the GE models. Your budget will double in a hurry. Dan I can attest that K&K makes ...

Re: OK...I'm gone
The problem with the distribution of wealth in this country has to do with 1 major undercurrent for the past 60-70 years. It is the run-away inflation the Federal Reserve System (privately held bank, not a Gov't entity) has created which has basically held our government hostage since the FRS was es...

Re: Recommend an acoustic for me - $1500 price range
Check out some Taylors. I always pick one up when I go into a shop. Haven't come across a dog yet. They always seem to come setup real well and all bloom wonderfully. I tend to like the smaller auditorium styles as I'm not a big fan of huge boomy acoustics. I have also been very impressed with Seagu...

Re: Harry Joyce Wiring
George Scholz(sp?) currently (atleast still to my knowledge) produces HJ amps but retags them GS. George designed the 12" speakers which were in the HJ 4x12's and 2x12's. They are a much more of a Hi-Fi type of speaker. The leads to the voice coil actually attach on opposite sides so that the cone i...

nickt, your thoughts aren't that uncommon. I share a lot of the same feelings. The craftsman died along time ago. Now everything is just slapped together.
