That's exactly what I was going to do...when I get around to adding test points and external bias post and all those other things I keep meaning to get to .mlp-mx6 wrote:I put the OT primary on a stout DPDT switch. Works great. Switch when standby is off.

Re: My Wreck is alive!
I showed these build photos to my fiance, and she's like..."why didn't you make yours look like that?". I swear I wanted to drop my TW on her toes. I think when some upgraded parts show up, I'm going to do some cleaning of my chassis. I have a new goal ahead. I have a question though. Looking...

Re: Super Wreck???
thanks for posting that, benoit. You were a lot nicer about it then I would have been. :) Part of why I'm enjoying these forums, is there seems to be very little of that Elitist "you need to be an EE to even bias your amp" attitude, as well as the "your music isn't my music and therefor sucks" attit...

Re: Super Wreck???
the first guy was trying but... I'm not exactly sure how to take that.... All I meant was that this isn't the greatist playing. I could hear the tone better in the second clip due to cleaner articulation. Ahh! I see. I thought you mean the first response (me) talking out my ass or something....

Re: My Express Build!
There is a Star ground right under the IEC connector that the mains ground, bias board ground, and OT center tap all go to.... If I block the open chassis with something metal it goes away I'm sure you mean PT center tap to the star ground. The OT center tap goes to B1+. Sounds like you just need t...

There is a Star ground right under the IEC connector that the mains ground, bias board ground, and OT center tap all go to. This is according to the Ceriatone layout. The 60 cycle hum I have is definitly from outside sources. If I block the open chassis with something metal it goes away...and if I p...

Re: Lowering Noise and Microphonics
I understand. I was referencing the hiss without the guitar plugged in. In fact, this amp has also pointed out to me that I need a new volume pot on my guitar. Briane, Hey - I used the carbon film resistors that came in the kit from Nik. No Carbon Comps in the circuit at all. Mike Same here. I...

I'm thinking about switching all to metal film or something else quieter.

Re: Lowering Noise and Microphonics
I got by with shielded cable only from the input, but a lot of folks have used it on the volume control, as well. I do like your choice of solid core shielded cable. I'll have to get me some of that :!: You won't be dissapointed. It's VERY high quality, teflon/foil/shielded SOLID coax ... and the p...

Re: Super Wreck???
Ouch...I don't mean to be offensive...but that was painful to hear. Dark, dreary, with some odd harmonics. The clipping sounded way wrong. The clean to grind wasn't clean...I could hear some hard clipping somewhere in there that was overlapped with some clean tones. Maybe that was the recording gear...

Re: Lowering Noise and Microphonics
I finally got to crank my 'wreck last night (apartment living sucks). I got home before my neighbors and had about 15 minutes to give it a little push. :) I started out with the volume and 9'Oclock, just thumping a few chords and listening for anything wrong (new build you realize). After about 5 mi...
