That is really coming along nice!

I hope someone builds one of these. Mine really sounds great. Maybe a few components different than the original, but whatever I came up with really sounds great. Someone needs to make one to hear for themselves.

A while back I ran across a better picture of the original Manzamp. Probably the same picture, but maybe less 'lossy' generations of Jpeg copying.

Anyway, I think I can detect some components that I missed the first time around.

Lastly, the volume pot had deteriorated, so I replaced that with a new one.

In the end I wound up removing the output transformer (which was attached to the basket of the field coil speaker) and I had already removed the field coil. I attached both the field coil and the output transformer to a ceramic speaker and bid farewell to the original speaker. DSC_0522.JPG DSC_0523....

I tried to clean out the deteriorating cardboard residue from inside the field coil. I then tried to seal it with lacquer.

Nine years leater and the amp needed some work. The cardboard in side the field coil deteriorated. That, in combination with rust on the metal cylinder, caused the original voice coil to tear apart. Someone really should make one of these Manzamps. I think for anyone that builds amps the most recent one is always the best, but, after ten years, with 14 other amps at my disposal for comparison, the Manzamp really has a unique BIG sound that none of my other amps have. Comparison of my faceplate and the original:

I have about ten files that say "Manzamp Faceplate" but only certain ones will open due to un-supported graphics software.

This one should load ok, it is a PDF file. It may or may not be the correct size.

Good to see some interest in the Manzamp. Especially since the EJ amp has surfaced. Like, what in the heck is a Manzamp preamp? My impression of the Manzamp I build was the tone was in the power amp section.
