Re: Q for ampdoc1
Yeah, the reason I asked is because that's the first correct schematic I've ever seen posted.

Re: How about we post some pics and layouts?
Ricks, your work looks very neat! FWIW, your choke resistor can get real hot so you may want to reconsider having it so close to a cap. You also may want to consider grounding your 1st stage filter cap with the preamp grounds if your not already doing that.

Re: New express clone----Clip Inside----
A nice slow taper audio pot is essential for the volume control. Replacing the 1meg with a 500k pot with a 470k resistor in series with the wiper will spread out the taper as well.

You can fatten these up with a .002uf tone cap and a 470pf treble cap. Sounds better with humbuckers.

Mark, I'm curious, the amp you saw with the shielded cable and all the plate bypass components, are you sure Ken built it himself??

Re: Approach to Harmonics
The point KenF is really trying to make is that you should try things for yourself and see what "YOU" think. It's great to have forums like this but if you're looking to have this info handed to you on a platter then you will never get anywhere. I've tried all the stuff mentioned in this post and ev...

Re: How did you reach stability..?
Anyway, in regards to the hiss in Omar's amp, I don't recall anyone on that thread who owns or is familiar with wrecks giving any suggestions for solutions. Unfortunately, I think there are some parties who have the capacity to help, but don't feel it's in their best interests to have hobbyists bui...

Re: How did you reach stability..?
the Komet pics showed use of shielded wire, so personally I'm not so sure that it would necessarily be bad for the sound. Why would shielded wire sound bad? You have 20' of it in front of the amp, so there's no way that an additional 6" is going to adversely affect anything. I use the small diamete...
