A part of the compression is coming from the LNFB loops. Especially when you drive the first volume pot a little more.
Not all SSS are the same as are the LNFB loops.

The Bluesmaster tonestack is not a skyliner nor a classic tonestack. While a skyliner might be low mid heavy, the Bluesmaster might be low bass heavy. Coax B goes to the ratio pot with marked B

That's a good question, since some of the filter components are on the boards. Maybe Erwin can look into that? That is difficult to answer and the only way to know would be to try both and see which one you like.

And maybe try a tantalum too?
