Re: TW clone handle?

Thanks for the pyrography info. I know for a fact that i too would destroy the bubinga face if i attempted it without any sort of template. I will look around and see if there is anyone who can do it. i do know a wood carver.

Re: TW clone handle?

Here is another consideration i have only just thought of after looking at that fine finger-jointed cabinet. Mine is mitred and biscuit jointed. Would that be strong enough to hold the weight when hoisted by a handle on top?

TW clone handle?

I'm making a TW Liverpool style amp using heyboer and Edcore transformers and wondering if i should put a leather handle on it or cut some holes in the sides. Any thoughts on this? I don't see too many with handles or holes and wonder how folks manoeuvre them without damaging them. Also, can anyone ...

Re: ACOUSTIC 165 problems

Has anyone got any pictures of inside the chassis of this amp. Where can i find out correct voltages for the amp?

Re: ACOUSTIC 165 problems

Thanks. I asked about the preamp tubes because all four of them in this amp are labelled 12AX7, so i guess someone put a wrong one in somewhere. You said the PI tube should be 12AT7. I thought reverb tubes were usually 12AT7. The ebay link shows a manual in the sale of that 165, my kingdom for a sca...

Re: ACOUSTIC 165 problems

Thanks very much for that info. Great pictures. I recently acquired the amp in this condition, speaker is fine, tested in other amp. Nothing burnt out on the board. Which is the PI, the tubes are not marked on that schematic. Is it the tube shown on the schematic which is split across the reverb pan...

ACOUSTIC 165 problems

I have an ACOUSTIC 165 made in 1981 which sounds terrible. All tubes swapped out but it still has very nasty, farty, overblown, speaker-blowing distortion on both channels. The reverb is not working either, despite trying a new reverb pan. Any other owners of this amp here who might have a schematic...

Re: Chassis holes plan

Are all of Ken Fisher's TW amps accounted for/logged? Did he ever make any for export to places such as England? if so, were they tonally different with the 240v available AC?

Re: Chassis holes plan

You know what, i think that is actually a really sensible piece of advice. I might start with the Rocket and take it from there. I have been watching Glen Kuykendall on You Tube and i have really been blown away by his tone and touch, so i just ordered his CD and hopefully will have it next week. I'...

Re: Chassis holes plan

i did think of that as they look fantastic and although a fair price, i am in England and the shipping and then tax on top of the value added to the shipping rate would make it an expensive option, especially as my fabrication guy can do it for £30, which today is about $42, so he tells me at this s...

Chassis holes plan

Does anyone have a dimensions plan for the cutouts for the Expression and Rocket? I have a fella making me a couple in a fabrication shop and he needs the sizes.
