Re: new ceriatone: Overtone His Royal Majesty (HRM) 100/50
Wow...what a great thread (not!!) Can I just check though, where do you guys stand on someone who would buy one of Nik's amps as a starting point, but then tweaks it to their own taste as and when they can afford to upgrade transformers etc...?? (Also, how does made in UK compare to made in USA???) ...

60W speaker in 40W amp??
I am considering putting a single Celestion G12 Century Vintage speaker in my Blues Deluxe Reissue. I'm sure I read somewhere that you're supposed to ensure that the speaker is rated at double what your amp is, is this true? Would this speaker be okay in my amp? I never get the volume above 4 or 5 a...

Re: Opinions on speaker paring
From the guy who made his current cabs.... http://www.alessandro-products.com/main.html He said that John is using a mix of Celestion G12-65's, Golds and Century G12's. He said that John thinks the G12-65 works best alone and the other speakers add high freq detail in conjunction with the 65's. Sinc...

Opinions on speaker paring
I've heard that John Mayer is currently using Celestion G12-65 and Century G12 speakers in his live setup. From what I understand he's got a 2x12" cabinet for each speaker (ie 2xG12-65 and 2xCentury G12), however I was wondering what your opinions were of a single 2x12" cabinet with 1 of each speake...

Re: Amp advice - I'll build for a friend
Well I've never played a proper JTM45 myself, but they're supposed to have the best clean tone out of any Marshall. Don't forget they are basically Jim Marshall's take on the Fender Bassman.

While we're talking kits, does anyone have any experience with the TAD amp kits?
They do a Vibroverb kit - which is one of my "wish list" amps!!

Re: Amp advice - I'll build for a friend
Well, my suggestion would be a Marchall JTM45 type amp. There are a few kits available and they all look fairly simple (as amps go!!). I'm a novice at this myself and am planning my first amp build which is going to be a Fender 5E7 type circuit, yet to decide what speaker config to go with - tempted...

Re: Not one to let a good thread die....
I got a deal on TGP for a ever so slightly used Celestion G12 Century neodymium. I loaded it in an oversized 'Dumble Approved' 1X12 pine cab with oval open back and a floating baffle. All I can say is WOW!!! I'm infatuated with this speaker! I'm so taken with it, I haven't been able to part with it...

Re: Truly a new 12AX7???

Here's the review: Good, bad or indifferent... don't buy imported junk on general principles. NOS Mullards are a different story, they were imported when the $U.S. was s...

Did/does Mark Knolfer use a Dumble?
I seem to remember reading that he did in an article a while back, but can't seem to find any reference to it online now.
Anyone know and if so what type (HRM/non-HRM etc)?

Re: Celestion gh65 v Scumbacks v Austin speaker works v Weber
What I would like to know is how the Celestion G12-65 copes with cleans.
I'm going to want Fender-esque cleans when I build my ODS clone and wonder how this speaker copes.
I'm especially keen on Celestion if I can get the sound I want, because I'm in the UK so they're easily available!!
