Re: Peter Greens Fleetwood Mac

there are some clips on the tube from the tea party http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJHKzKyLxqE Fantastic! But stevie nicks is too low in the mix, you can barely hear her. Seriously though, that sounded awesome. I'll try and track this down on CD as an xmas gift for my brother who's been gett...

Re: Anyone Like Uncle Tupelo

Yes! I like Uncle Tupelo a lot too. They were ahead of the curve in terms of the americana/roots resurgence. Not a lot of the 90's alternative/indie bands were coming from that direction, at least not many my friends and I listened to at the time. Seems like there's a bigger hipster contingent these...

This might be the first time in the history of the internet that a golf thread turned into a Beverly Hills Hillbillies discussion!

Re: Help identifying this show.

Of course, some of the Hendrix stuff released after his death is truly horid, but they were cashing in on everything they could before his family had control of his estate. Yes I agree, the family is milking every last drop out of his recordings. That wasn't Gibsonman63's point. He's saying (I thin...

Amp on Rock of Ages (The Band live album, not the movie)

Hi everyone. I'm wondering if anybody knows what amp Robbie used at the Academy of Music shows for The Band's Rock of Ages album. I've searched around a bunch online and can't find an answer. Saw one photo of Levon playing mandolin and in the background you can see a Twin (silverface?). I just like ...

Re: Compressor? Yea or Nay?

On my Express I really like a squishy compressor although I use it for the opposite of what you're doing. I set the amp up normally and use the compressor to cut enough volume to clean up the amp completely. When I click it on I can hit the strings as hard as I want and not even get hair if I have ...

Re: Bird lands on guitar while playing!

That's cool! Last summer, a bandmate and I were practicing on acoustics outside since it was a beautiful sunny day. A big dragonfly decided that my headstock would be a great place to chill out. Surprisingly, it stayed there for at least an entire song and didn't seem bothered by the vibrations or t...

Re: Looking for 2x12 cab

I just picked up an avatar 2x12 traditional, it was used but is in very good condition. So far I like it a lot. It came with an open (oval) back and a closed back which I think is still an option. Or at least you can get a small panel to close up the backs of the newer ones. Lopo is a good "value" c...

Re: I had to bail the wife out of jail

, I got pulled over incessantly last season all over the state going back a forth from gigs, and they never really justified why... I drive like grand ma, now I know... . oh yeah, didn't you tell the tale of getting pulled over for dropping a cigarette butt out of your window? that sure explains it.

Re: stunned and bewilderd

I got pulled over a while back in a small NH town with over-zealous law enforcement. So I was kinda surprised because I was going the speed limit and was in my lane. Anyway, the cop was actually quite pleasant, almost apologetic, and explained that my license plate bulb was out and that was somethin...

I agree with what Gibsonman63 said. I recently went through a similar thing. Had been away from playing out/gigging for a few years, except a handful of shows as a sideman, and I wanted to get back to doing my own stuff. Long story short, I decided to follow through with my plans - picked out a bunc...

Re: recommends for a young jazz player - ext cab

You might want to look into Avatar and (slightly cheaper) Lopo cabs. Avatar also has a decent selection of speakers if you want to buy one loaded. Their quality is very good and certainly under $400 for a loaded 1x12. I purchased an empty Lopo large 1x12 a few years ago, and it wasn't top shelf craf...
