Re: Sound clips of resistor types

We are still talking about this? I am seriously MIF'd! ;^) This means that to have confidence that there is an audible difference in the sound of resistor types, Mr. Fisher would require eight blind trials with two types of resistors (A and B), where four of the trials had type A installed and four...

Re: Anyone still have a layout/schem for the Bassman/Longhorn mods?

Hello — There are enough posts here on TAG covering the longhorn by member ‘billyz’ to reassure even a serious skeptic that he’s the originator. Has not posted for a few years but the profile suggests he still logs in from time to time. Try sending DM? Billy Zoom is a guitarist known mostly the exce...

Re: 12AU7 -> small PT as SE OT -> spring reverb?

I used the triode paired within, in conventionally familiar form so yea. Details are lost, at least for the moment. It was breadboard level. When I get my workshop back in order I might find the scrap remains. Plan basing it as the reverb sub-circuit for my flavour of a Dumble-esque Princeton/Deluxe...

Re: Footswitch-able FET Boost

Ian's PCB with integrated relay (shown above in this thread) is exactly what is needed for a conversion. A combination of circumstances obliged me to essentially pack all my amp building tools, WiP projects, etc., away for the past few years and I had not fully finished it. That said I'm slowly unp...

Re: 12AU7 -> small PT as SE OT -> spring reverb?

Try this — https://web.archive.org/web/20180921032354/http://www.channelroadamps.com/articles/reverb_driver/ Fully agree this circuit provides exemplary reverb. The only downside is sourcing suitable NOS tubes. Get a sleeve of five of whatever you choose so spares are available twenty years from now...

Please advise.
You might have placed it in the “PCB Design” sub-forum area.

Re: Error 429 Too many requests

Sorry just found this while cleaning up a user. I would think this is more likely a problem with the hosting provider, they're pretty horrible. I doubt sluckey is suddenly posting more than he ever has in the past :) I honestly don't have a ton of time to look into logs etc. I try to do the bare mi...

Hello -- That message is certainly a function of load limiting at the server. Nothing anyone can do in the browser except go off and wait for another time, and hope then it's been less loaded. I see less than 20 active users currently. Two listed are search bots -- Google & Bing. Doubtful those are ...

Re: Ampeg SB 12 information please?

Sure. A minor bit of advice would be to learn enough about setting the bias that you're confident in swapping a fresh set in. Check the status of the installed set. Prepare to start "cold" on the new set and then adjust to taste, within acceptable dissipation limits. You'll need some tools. For some...

Re: Thoughts on Jimmy Page’s Super Bass Marshall?

Beware and have care Miles — There is a little bit of a blonde Fender in there, at least you can get a similar feel from a somewhat underdriven blondey at a volume that doesn't bruise the 5th row. :) There are serious if curious elements within TAG flaunting pictured forks who’ve rejected existence ...

Re: Which Amp, clean warm and sweet?

Hello --

Good suggestions all. For more ideas, Gibson GA50 per Jim Hall. Or perhaps a variation inspired by Fender "blonde" 6G3 Deluxe. Speaker choices will be important.

Re: Ampeg SB 12 information please?

Hello -- Recommend basing evaluation/analysis against this schematic. Trace your amp out against it starting at the rectifier and then power amp and then the preamp. Then help us help you by annotating your pictures with the respective components. Unfortunately this schematic hasn't uniquely enumera...
