Nice
I got a ES335 cheap on craigslist/kijiji recently too. I also replaced the electronics right away. 300K pots and cheap little ceramic caps

Re: Adding distortion: FET Input vs Diode Clipping
FET won't affect input impedance. You can set the impedance as you want, just tweak the gate leak resistor. Also with a pulldown resistor on the FETs input and a solid relay switching scheme you won't have any popping. Don't look at the ODS FET boost for ideas, it's not that great. I'd look at runof...

Re: Eq between V1a And V1b vs. After V1b
Then you'd have a Marshall more or less (no CF).richon wrote:Hi,
I was wandering what difference would be having the Eq between V1a and V1b versus having it after V1b (between V1a and V1b it would be only a "gain/Clean" pot)
The TS can drive the PI, look at Marshalls for example.

Re: Two clean channels in one amp
I think it's a great idea.
I'd install some switches or relays to configure the output stage differently depending what channel your on (NFB, cathode/fixed bias, PI type, output tube type, etc.).

Re: Use of 220uF and 330uF in bass channels.
The small cap is doing nothing when in parallel with the big electrolytics. The fact the small cap is a film cap does do a bit to the tone though.

Re: Add reverb to a Bassman
I have used that type of one tube reverb on amps numerous times and really like it. I actually prefer it over the Fender reverbs because this allows a few more mids to be verbed which gives it a better tone to my ears. Not saying it's better just that I prefer it. That type of one tube reverb isn't...

Re: Tube rectifiers; let's argue.
Put some diodes and a fuse in series with each HV winding going to the tube recto and you are pretty safe.
They do not play a huge factor in tone imo but like any great amp it is not one single component that makes the difference but many small components/factors put together.

Re: Weber 18 watt tmb noise and bias
R9 and R10 are the bias resistor.
They put the two 5W resistors in parallel to get a 10W resistor of the correct value.

Re: Weber 18 watt tmb noise and bias
If your B+ is about 350V you want a 150R 5W bias resistor.
Screen dropping resistor should be 1.5K, PI dropping resistor should be 8K2 and the preamp dropping resistor should be 2K2.

Re: OD channel tone control ?
If you connect the control from the wiper you'd have more resistance in series with the control (150K + the resistance from lug 3 to 2).
This would shift the cutoff frequency of the low pass filter lower.

What's the rotary switch doing?
Looks like a cap from the pot's input to ground, so shunting some highs to ground.

Re: voltage divider for screen grids
UPDATE: I actually discovered last night I had my screens connected to the PI supply :(  As a result my screens were way lower than they should have been (about 80V too low but the tone sounded great). I have sinced fixed this issue; voltage wise the screens and plates are about 1V apa...
