Re: Load sensing switch

Only thing I can think of is how hot does it get? Will it damage a plastic box? If you have proper heat sinking and air venting, maybe it's not an issues or maybe you can mount it such that it wouldn't be an issue. Otherwise, there are plenty of plastic outlet boxes used these days. It's typically h...

Re: Load sensing switch

If you're using a metal box, and one of the mains wires comes loose and contacts the box ... and then you touch the ungrounded box ... you'll receive a shock. The ground is a safety measure in that case. Who knows if the box has enough thermal mass to account for the load to be dissipated. Sounds li...

Re: Cornell Dubilier vs. SoZo Silver Mica Comparison Clips

Thanks. Difference is subtle, I think. So you feel it's more the rating ... and I assume thereby the build/dimensions of the cap that make the difference? Was thinking it must have some impact.

I prefer Apple too, and Cherry ... Mesquite in small doses. These came out real good. Need a better sauce though.

Cornell Dubilier vs. SoZo Silver Mica Comparison Clips

In thread discussing the SoZo Silver Mica caps, Mark suggested an A/B comparison. Here's an attempted "A/B" of sorts between a 500pF CDE/CDM Silver Mica Treble tone cap and a 500pF/1000V SoZo Silver Mica Treble tone cap. These were not recorded with the exact/identicle setup as the mics had moved an...

Re: BBQ Open Season

Letting them "rest" for about 30 mins to tighten back up and then finish directly over the coals. :D

BBQ Open Season

Anyone else like th BBQ? Pretty much year round down here. Gone "high tech" now with my BBQ. Cooking ribs today (you can monitor the cook via the link below). Current method is a bit higher temp at 320 in the Big Green Egg ... 50 min bone side down, 50 min meat side down, 70 minutes wrapped. Let 'em...

Re: Have you seen this: New Sozo silver mica cap

That's a good plan. I have recordings from just prior to the change. I may record again for comparison. Have to reset all the knobs and microphones, but it may provide some benefit. I'll consider pre/post recordings in the future.

Re: Have you seen this: New Sozo silver mica cap

No. Admittedly, this is less than scientific. To a certain degree, I think this sort of thing will always be subjective. I'm now to the point of splitting hairs with this amp. I've swapped a number of components in/out but the biggest improvements have come from improved grounding and component plac...

Re: Have you seen this: New Sozo silver mica cap

My $0.02. I replaced a 470pf/500V CDM in the tone stack of my Express with a 500pf/1000V SoZo. Initial response was very positive ... went back in after a day, and I still like it. The difference is subtle and difficult to describe, but I think Rooster's description is not far off. The treble seems ...

IMG.jpgIMG_0001.jpgIMG.jpgIMG_0004.jpgIMG_0003.jpg There was a radio station ... KSFM "Earthrock" ... back then too. Did you ever play at the Oasis Ballroom? Some good local music back then. Oh yeah the Oasis was one of our regular haunts. There was a Tower Records at the corner there (Watt Avenue?...
