Re: More rocket fun

Hi Marcus, I have very little noise with my amp, no hum and not a huge amount of hiss either, you can try the grounding suggestions above but the way the grounds where laid out on the layout was done in a logical manner to keep the noise floor down, you can try isolate the input jack and the speaker...

Re: More rocket fun

Finally got to finish off the cabinet for this amp, here it is:

The material is red with yellow metallic bubbles, but it actually looks orange but the tone of the colour changes depending on lighting and the angle you look at it. I am not an orange fan but this turned out well.

Re: Soundgarden Chris Cornell

love Chris Cornell and Soundgarden stuff too, though I was not a fan when they first came out, probably started listening to them post 2003.

Chris did a song with Slash a few years ago that I like too, slashes tone is mince on this one but I like the song

Re: More rocket fun

I would go for 1watt or higher on the plates, the first triode is the most important one.

Sorry don't know Kevin, but I know finding good drummers is hard

Re: More rocket fun

Hi Andre, if the hiss is irritating you then that is one of the thing you can do to help, though it would be more of a factor if you are playing with the volume control cranked all the time, normally most guys would go for high quality metal film resistors for the plates to reduce hiss or try swap t...

We have a similar issue with oil in Scotland, jobs are going left right and centre, fortunately the GBP is not baselined off oil

This is only a conversation that can be had in the USA! After Obama's statement of needing more background checks I think you guys are all stuffed though, I mean you are all active members on an "attack site forum" and build dangerous high voltage electronic devices that could be mistaken for a bomb...

Re: Trainwreck Express - Speakers

I have found there are few speakers I plug into and don't want to tweak something in the amp, some speakers you have to tweak allot. if you like the overall tone/feel/response of the speakers and then tweaking bass/treble/mids in the circuit to match the speaker set is easy, very hard if you don't l...

Re: Captive/insert/press-in nuts

I use cage nuts too, and have a 3/8" square hole punch which works a treat They are easy to replace if you ever have to and they can be gripped easily if the screw ever seized in it. A pic of such an animal punch would be appreciated. I searched to the end of the internet and could not find a "Gree...

Re: Celestion Creamback G12M-65 Speaker Efficiency

I have become a fan of the Celestion G12 Alnico creamback, check them out if you can, more expensive but worth considering. Any comment on how they compare to others? I don't have a gold to compare against, but there is a youtube video comparing the cream to the gold and the cream won hands down IM...

Re: Celestion Creamback G12M-65 Speaker Efficiency

You will defo notice 3db in the cab, I have a number of cabs here with various speakers and the greenback cabs are all quieter. I would say I could gig with a 10w amp through a 100db speaker but would struggle with a 97db speaker to hear myself properly with the same amp.. talking clean tones of cou...

Re: Authentic custom Plexi Panels??

I made a custom JTM45 panel for Littlewyn on the forum, had to send a real Marshall panel off to get the paint matched and spent ages getting the fonts the way he wanted them, here is a picture http://ampgarage.com/forum/download/file.php?id=41631 Marshall fonts are all over the place though, there ...
