I like the bass and treble cut controls on V-1b if you use a 12AX7 That said I use a EF86 input pin 9 cut controls pin6 it's like night and day why a EF86 has a gain factor of 180
not 100 like a 12AX7 I only put 90 volts on the EF86. No inductor used. Check out the 1957 VOX AC-15

I would leave it stock. I don't see any advantage in swapping transformers.

I'm somewhat sure the Inductor idea was from the Gibson Varitone from 1961 1.5 Henry Inductor was used. That said I have had better results using a higher gain EF86 with no Inductor pin 9 input pin 6 bass and treble switch input. One more point on the Treble switch you will need a 4m7 blocking resis...

When Sprague quit branding made in USA I got a batch that were reverse polarity what a mess most 450v electrolytic capacitors can take 525v surge.

If it was me I would replace all of the electrolytic capacitors with 30uf 500v F & T. I used RIFA PEG 124 brand 33uf 450V in my two builds.
