Re: Transformer / PS board bolt interference

I've got a countersink bit and I didn't even think to use it when I built my express, I just threw some washers under the transformer. :oops:It worked fine, I've since used the countersink bit with great results. Just go slow and check the depth with the screw so you don't take out to much metal. Phil

Re: Surf amp?

I've played and recorded a lot of instrumental surf and my go to amp is a 62 brown fender pro. I put allens higher power output in it for more clean headroom and I run a jensen vibranto 15 with the huge alnico magnet. Of course I always use an original fender outboard reverb, the reissues can be imp...

Re: Hartke speaker recone?

Do you know if they are the same or similar to the behringer aluminum 10's? My friend has a bunch of the behringer aluminum 10's on the wall of his shop, I know he's selling them cheaper than a recone. Phil

Re: Tremolo In Express Build

I used the extra triode for tremolo in my trem-rocket, which I used in conjunction with my express for quite a few gigs. If you make an express with tremolo I would be interested in how it sounded. If you do a search for trem-rocket there are pictures and clips of mine. Phil

Re: The Les Paul Dilemma

I really dug my 79 deluxe with mini humbuckers it was my main for quite a while. I ended up trading it for a 335, and always wanted to get another lp. I got lucky and got a 76 3 pickup custom which needed electronics. It was expensive but I was able to put the high orders of my choice in it. Les Pau...

If he tweaked it a little more he could have got some of those tones like Henry Kaiser in that other video. Phil

When I recapped a couple of my magnatones I contacted vibroworld and they supplied the correct combo can caps that I needed. All my site addresses are on my old computer or I'd give you a link. Phil

Re: Speakers for D'lite 22 ?

Hey, guys. Why the G12-65 over the G12H? Just curious - I have little experience with Celestion speakers and am building my first D'Lite 22. It's going to be a "combo" format cabinet. Any thoughts on these two speakers would be appreciated. Thanks, Mark. I'm in the same boat, hopefully I'll be done...

Re: 6AQ5's in Express?

My intention here is to see if a wreck can be built that satisfies without ear splitting volume. This is sort of like what the 18W Marshall is to the 50/100W models. I think you are right about "economizing" on the iron. Definitely use fewer than six 6AQ5's. My six banger is about the same volume a...
