Re: Using all metal film vs carbon film resistors in a pedal

One I even tried to go with more expensive caps but the wima caps aren’t available in every value needed Are you using Mouser for WIMA caps? Never encountered a value they haven't had. Those are some sweet PCB's btw. Also did the wanky thing with PRP 9372's for a meme a while back. Made absolutely ...

Re: Using all metal film vs carbon film resistors in a pedal

so essentially this is the same as what ive read elsewhere. most saying metal film is better tolerance but insignificant tonal differences with others saying metal film sounds bad and some saying carbon too noisy. ill find out soon enough. im building 2 Klon clones. one with the standard mix of carb...

Using all metal film vs carbon film resistors in a pedal

Looking at a klon pedal. Or overdrive pedal in general. I see some places saying use metal film for everything and some saying to mix them for the klon like the original. Is there a difference in sound/feel/etc if you were to build a klon using all metal film resistors?

Re: Bluesmater finished

Yes, I built the preamp board and etch the PS, Bias, TET and 12 volt boards myself, I just enjoy doing it. Taylor has great boards, chassis and cabinets, my 102 and JM signature builds have his boards in them. Steve IMG_0663.JPG that's really cool. ive never etched boards myself. maybe ill start th...

Re: Bluesmater finished

did you drill the boards by hand?

I think once AN releases a new set of chassis it's time to just order stuff and start.

Re: need help determining if I played a real dumble

Correct, I heard the amp at a NJ Amp Show, the owner was very nice. There was a Dumble modded Marshall plexi too. I loved that amp. im guess my memory is real bad. I thought it was a tan combo at the heebgb get together. but video clearly shows black head and cab. maybe im confusing it with gene's ...

through everything ive been able to find out, that seems correct. owned by a guy that used to post under riveiratoasters or something like that.

Re: need help determining if I played a real dumble

so I found a video. somebody here had to be here. and I found a post that claimed it was a black head through 2 EVs. so im guessing it wasn't a tan combo like I remembered. maybe the tan dumble was at the Piscataway amp show in the hotel????? https://youtu.be/1XQPyltcBZs?si=XS8_jRh-5Bazop8x&t=145

need help determining if I played a real dumble

I recall playing what I believe was a real dumble in a cream or tan color but I didnt even know what a dumble was then and ...

thanks. in that case I think I built a very functional, but very boring sounding amp.

this might be a stupid question, but with everything unplugged should my heaters and output jack have continuity with ground?

how much does the primary impedance of the OT matter. im wondering if that might be my main problem.
