Re: Split cab

+1 for the radial. Great boxes. I also use a bigshot to run my signal thru 2 amps, the ground lift is essential.

Re: Alnico Gold for Fender Hot Rod Deluxe?

The gold is pure gold. Every amp ive played mine thru has sounded better for it. Absolutely great speaker. I just took a eminence texas heat in trade for a V30, the heat is very alnico'sh to my ears. for 70 bucks new, a definite bargain and i like mine as much as the gold. Pretty sweet tones. I had ...

Ive seen 2 schems for this amp. One had a 25k the other 50k bias pot. One had a 40/20/20/20 can the other ran a 50/50 plus a 47. Seen inside 2 amps, one had the 50/50 and 47 the other, an earlier one had a 50/50 and a pair of 22's in parallel, same thing. The 40/20/20/20 is someones take on it. Has ...

Re: Filtering overtones?

I know exactly what youre talking about, i do that myself on cramped necks. I followed thru this morning and rearranged the filters. Added 16uf on to the first stage, no change. I decided to drop the UL taps off the screens, as its bothered me for sometime, i mean ive spent many hours rearranging va...

Filtering overtones?

Hey. I just love my Rocket conversion on a twin build i did. It sounds so good, that my brothers amp i built him ( KT66 UL deal), well he decides he wants me to mod that to a rocket too. The thing with this 66 amp, is it has always made these overtone/ ghost notes. It has pretty substantial filterin...

Re: New Vox Night Train Amp

Buddy of mine works in a local guitar shop. The Vox/Yamaha rep came in with a nighttrain, demo'd it, within minutes had 2 ordered for my buddy and his boss. And they are both anal amp freaks and gigging musos and have some nice gear allready. Sounds like its got the goods. I have a handwired AC15, 6...

Re: Ruined

I gigged my Swart today as i needed lower output, 20 watts, and the grabability of the little 1x12 is very cool. However this rocket octal build has a tone that im really getting a lot out of. Has a crispness and clean the AST doesnt get, and great dynamics that the AST also deosnt have. So... im th...

Re: Ruined

Thanks for the welcome guys. There certainly is something immensely satisfying about playing something you have created from parts, i gigged this amp for the first time on wednesday and it was very sweet. I have a Z 1x12 convertible with a gold in it that is just amazing with this amp. But last nigh...

Ruined

Hey. I built a 57' Twin clone over Christmas, my 4th build, got it running straight away, no build issues. Alltho i had dreams of a EF86 channel, with paralleled second channel feeding EL34's. A little off spec.. Well i learned that you pretty well have to build backwards and designing your own amp ...
