Re: Express lead dress
You also need to have a methodology for determining which part of the amp is unstable. Scope helps! This sounds like an excellent idea. How does one learn about using a scope to find the noise. I have a scope but I must admit that I don't really know how to use it, much less how best to use it. Any...

Re: Essential components to recreate the EXPRESS sound....
Think I'll gut mine & start again - again. I just finished gutting and rebuilding mine. I can't get this thing anywhere near a 12AX7 in the PI. An AT is as high as I can go in V1. It's monstrous and untamed otherwise. I saw it written that the Express is not a beginners amp build. Wish I'd ...

Re: Drilling holes in head cab for chassis mounting

Re: Heat Shrink
I'm not doing it, I've already decided. I just thought it looked neat and wondered if it was worth the work. I find that once I close the amps, I typically play them and never really go back and look at them but for the time they are open, I like to be prideful!

Re: Heat Shrink
What a great conversation! I'm so glad I asked. I do have an affection towards neatly soldered builds and attention to detail. As a novice, I asked because Rubber O-rings are used for tubes etc., I figured it would be good to get some seasoned opinions. I could've easily been seduced to make everyth...

Heat Shrink
I'm a fairly new builder, I do it for the love of tone and the fun of it. I've built 3 amps so far with good success, A Vibrochamp, a TWE, and a 5e3. I'm starting a new build in a day or so and was wondering about heat shrinking all or most of the caps and resistors. (See attached picture) I found t...
