Re: LND150 FX loop PCBs?
Steve Miller, who originally designed the Zero Loss Metro fx loop for George Metropoulos, is now selling them. https://sites.google.com/view/sdm6550/zero-loss-fx-loop?fbclid=IwdGRjcASRC_9leHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZAo2NjI4NTY4Mzc5AAEeYFqO4XUIuCKhcJ7sCcIzQ1QVhzvks5cZ4ff0173Uki9U_9a3kYg3Vw7SjAM_aem_...

Re: Soldano kits
Five years ago, I built a 50 watt SLO kit from C3 Amps with excellent results. C3 Amps is located in Texas, and the owner is Rob Reeder. It’s a one man operation and you can expect up to a week before you get a reply from Rob. IMO, it’s the best SLO kit out there, especially if authenticity is desir...

Re: Help with '76 Ampeg VT40 with Previous Mods
Since I'm planning to replace all six of the amps 2-watt CC resistors, can I use 2-watt metal film resistors instead of metal oxides? I really like the size of the Vishay PR series. Following marked up schem shows the six locations: Ampeg_vt22_vt40_V2_V4_Distortion Schematic_1 - Copy.jpeg Vishay PR ...

Re: Help with '76 Ampeg VT40 with Previous Mods
It’s good to be proactive with these amps and replace all the plate load resistors and any of the multi colored stripped coupling caps that might be in it because aging from heat tends to crack them open. All three of those tropical fishy’s are cracked. Two of them are severely cracked. About five ...

Help with '76 Ampeg VT40 with Previous Mods
This amp belongs to a friend of mine who just recently acquired it. The couple of mods are minor, but I don't understand them. One half of the phase inverter tube had its original grid to cathode cap (.15/250v, c202) removed. How does this affect the PI's circuit? Ampeg_vt22_vt40_V2_V4_Distortion Sc...

Re: Swirling Fizzy Tone on Decaying Notes
I want to apologize for not reading this thread thoroughly. I must have been pretty tired, because it looks like I missed most of the 1st page. I thought the OP was trying to troubleshooting a vintage Deluxe 6G3, and I just spammed your thread with a troubleshooting post that is of zero use to the ...

Re: Mystery Ceramic Cap?
Excellent, thank you!nuke wrote: ↑Mon Dec 08, 2025 4:43 am That is a Vishay Y2 / X1 rated capacitor 680pf, 20%.
Y2 rated to 300v
X1 rated to 440
681 means 680pf
M means 20% tolerance.
Automotive grade.

The resistor is a garden-variety 220K carbon film.

Mystery Ceramic Cap?
Friend of mine sent me this pic and asked me what values is the resistor and the cap in this treble bleed circuit? I can’t figure out the cap’s capacitance. I’m assuming this is a ceramic.

Re: Tweed Deluxe/Tremolux Potentiometer Taper
I recently built a 5E3 Tweedle variant and pretty sure I used J taper 2-35 1M pots. They come on way too fast, in my experience, with the amp almost full up at 4 of 12 on the Volume knob. I really wish the PEC 1M 10% pots were still available. They had an excellent, gradual response. I have half a ...

Re: 1969 Super Lead
Any recommendations on the best transformers? If there's a good new option that does justice to the original, I don't feel the need to have actual originals on this amp. One good source is Brian Wallace at Marstran Transformers. His trannies are built by Heyboer to his specs. Have patience for a re...

Re: 1969 Super Lead
This should be a fun and rewarding project if you take the time to evaluate every component for proper specs and other operational integrity. I’m focusing on the trannies first. I see a choke by Classic Tone… What are the others? What’s your experience with working on amps? There’s quite a few extre...

Re: Higher Value Filter Caps Installed In SS Amp
The cord being snipped off is probably a sign from a former tech... What do think the former tech might have meant by doing that? I eventually found the Facebook Marketplace ad that my friend made the purchase through. Asking price was $50! I remember years ago, I received a recall notice on a dehu...

Re: Higher Value Filter Caps Installed In SS Amp
Thank you all for the valuable responses. And yes, it’s very Peavey-like. I got the OK to at least recap the rear panel: The 2 main filtering caps and the 4 small e-caps of the power supply board. If he really likes it, he might ask me to recap the front panel’s 23 small e-caps. To get this amp oper...
