I grabbed a couple recently, great OT for the price. I just wish the leads were 2-3 inches longer though.

Re: Stvevie Ray Vaughans Dumbles
Interesting the ON/ON/ON switch = Rock / PAB / Jazz No, it's an On/Off/On switch. TM Hi TM, would you mind elaborating. What is the set up on the off (middle) position then? PAB, exactly as labeled. The switch is an on/off/on and when in the off (middle) position serves to activate the PAB from the...

* clip off or just lift one leg of the bypass cap on V2b's 100k plate resistor.tremblaylive wrote: ↑Mon May 01, 2017 12:07 pm
(And fix the bass channel, so I can get some jumped goodness!)
* change those .25 coupling caps to .022
* change 1M resistor to 33K to 56K.
* change .00025 to 330 to 390pf

Re: Bassman head circuit identification
I definitely want to start learning about tube amps and working on them. First thing that I want to do is build a stand so I can sit the chassis in it upside down so that I can properly prod around. Next time I open it up I will check what the bias setup is and report back :) I'm stoked if it reall...

Re: relay transformer
.......can do a bridge rectifier but I dont really want to heavily modify anything. The transformer I have fits in there but the mounting holes are 3/8 off. I made a little bracket to put it in there but I hate how it looks. Dave, there's assembly and building, drop in fitment certainly is a pleasu...

Re: 5e3 Phase Inverter Hum (solved)
Just thinking here... A single 68k grid resistor would give you a traditional low input level. If you use a single 33-39k, you would get the high input level. Those 68k or 33k grid stoppers don't control input signal levels, at this location in the circuit path its main purpose is to form a low pas...

Re: relay transformer
The early amps had the the Triad F-313 or 313X if export. I used a vintage 313 in one of my CE chassis builds and I dont recall having to change the mounting centers. Mouser stocks the 313X, not sure about the 313.

Re: Motor run/start capacitors
-can you tell if these are start or run caps The high values tell me they are start caps;none of these caps last forever anymore as you can't use the really good insulating oils, you know the stuff that causes cancer, blindness, upset stomach, suicidal thoughts, drowsiness, kidney/liver damage, bal...

Re: SSS002 Deep Switch - Seriously
Yeah I have to respectfully disagree with the jazz and FET being a waste. The thing is some of the guys complain about a Strat not pushing the front end hard enough and use a boost pedal. I say, the amp has a pretty good sounding boost pedal built in. :D The 70s circuit guys consider the FET pretty...

Re: SSS002 Deep Switch - Seriously
In the beginning of this video you can see SRV switching from Jazz to Rock. https://youtu.be/Oi69EGRYCXQ In my opinion both jazz and FET are a bit of a waste of circutry Anyway when he goes to the switches both bright and deep are ON. In my opinion it sounds more like Mid but it's only my opinion Y...
