Excellent and nearly GREAT playing AND TONES

First of all -lots of "fusion" or Jazz Rockers don't have tones this good or seriously cool dirty "Blue" notes in their playing but still have great bends and vibrato( like you do here ). And blues feel. To tweak this into a GREAT track and performance, just a little more ambience( and getting the s...

Wow

That was some awesome tone by ANY standards, the backing track I wasn't too crazy about -but the tones and creativity on the lead are excellent. I strongly suggest you tighten up that backing track and treat everyone to some great stuff all the way. So the few Redplate Clips I've heard in the past d...

Other Cascaded preamps NOT 12ax7s

At this point (I'm a player not a tech ) we have heard cascaded 12ax7s in all kinds of circuits. Is it possible that OTHER preamp tubes (ok,the first stage or 2 can still be a 12ax7 for low noise maybe) may clip or distort more musically with a wider sweet spot, require less filtering etc.? What do ...

Tones of Champ /Dumble

Cool - can that type of build be effective with a low wattage power section, say 1 0r 2 6AQ5's to be used as a very toneful home recording amp, possibly with a tap for simultaneous direct recording while running a speaker? Is there enough gain in the pre to "sing" even at low volume and low wattage ?

Dumble preamp into Cab Simulator

I'd like to know if the Dumble HRM or ODS preamp alone would work in the studio into a pre filter rolling off above 7k or so and then into a digital cab simulator such as a POD XT with modeling OFF-just the different cabs and efx, or something like AMP FARM ,again the CABS ONLY no modeling. This may ...

Low power amp with "THE TONE"

Have any of you made a Very low power amp /preamp with tones like Eric Johnson and Andy Timmons have nowadays? The closest way to approach it is to start with a pure toned Dumble type overdrive since it's easier to make the tone a bit gritty once you have the clear harmonic overdrive.I believe the D...

Oconnor and Aspen Pitman"tube wizards"

I'm here as a player to possibly have a very low power amp or pre or Dumble amp made by someone so bear with me here. The guys like O'connor and Aspen Pittman whom I've talked to personally on the phone profess to be tube gurus and to SOME extent they may be. Oconnor's power scaling technology is de...

Amazing Dumble and Harmonic Response

With most amps and preamps, when you hit a switch or turn a knob ,you get a variation of what you just had,i.e. a" gainier " sound or a bassier version of the same sound like turning a knob on your stereo. But notice the changes in tones on this video (and no doubt he could have done even more) seem...

Modern Amps vs. Dumbles and Amazing Tones

As a(non electrical tech) player, when I've asked people who have played Dumbles, they usually say they're over-rated not that special etc. but every time I hear one they sound excellent to amazing (only on recordings). So I thought maybe it was because I was hearing famous players on recordings mak...

Softening attack with just fingers

Yes guys, good point: another good way to soften front end attack is to use just fingers, so the sustained portion is almost as loud or as loud as the initial (softer, more legato, less transient) attack for more "bloom". It also seems that in rock and blues the guys with really great tones almost a...

Bloom from the PLAYER's perspective.

Unplugged you should be able to make the note sustain by finger vibrato, i.e. the string rubbing against the fret,it will be somewhat lower in volume than the first few seconds of the sustained note but if you are good at it and have a resonant guitar it will be very audible, practice getting this l...

Yeah the you tube Dumble Clip

The tones on that clip are amazing, you can hear beautiful jazz tones like a fender with more bottom end through some early Clapton type tones , a clear blues tone and a very pure light overdrive, then a tone reminiscent of modern Eric Johnson with heavy OD but still pure and NO narly square wave or...

Clapton's Incredible Vibrato

Ayan ; you are SO right about the early clapton tones and his absolutely incredible vibrato (s). When I first heard him and also in Cream recordings , I just could not believe the precision and beauty and his expressiveness of his vibrato. It was so good that in either 1967 or 68 Time Magazine (who ...

internal "mansamp" eq

Sergio beautiful amp- the obvious question; does it sound as pretty as it looks and also I've read interviews withSonny Landreth wnho uses an OD Special and he mentioned an internal EQ adjustment that controls or influences the outer tone knobs called a "mansamp". Does your amp have this? Also is an...
