Re: High E string sounds like a sitar
I agree with all of you and I appreciate the input and the offers. The paper is allowing me to play it around the house without listening to the sitar effect. I will fix it, but now is not the time for it. I'm just goofing around the house with it. I would never play it in public that way. I have t...

The problem with using paper is that you can easily either be too far back from the face of the nut (intonation issue) or hang over the edge (and buzz).
It's worth doing right.

Re: Amp wiring and layout question.
Another nice layout scheme is a PTP layout scheme with tag strips that was refined by the Gothik group over at AX84, that they call the Gothik Ring. It does a good job of not only keeping wiring short, but keeps each local current loop to/from that stage's B+ filter cap small and local. This featur...

Re: Amp wiring and layout question.
FWIW, some designs are known to be layout sensitive, others not so much.
Listen and learn before you reinvent the wheel.
Or... buy a bunch o' parts and go for it!

With extremely minor exception, "breathy male vocals" are a crime against musical humanity. I happily include this board's hero, John Mayer, in that indictment . +12 <much hip popping of fingers and waving of lighters> I think Frank Zappa had a vision of John Mayer in the crystal ball when he said ...

Re: Amp wiring and layout question.
What is inductance have to do with this? Don't pull out any link, I describe small loop radiation due to currrent in the loop and I did say from calculation, two wire over 1" apart can hardly have enough capacitance to couple. It's time for you to pull something out. I never argued that capacitance...

Re: Amp wiring and layout question.
You say plenty. You keep saying I don't know anything. If I don't say anything, you say I don't know anything, if I say what I did, I am egotistic. Having a credential doesn't make you correct. Parading a credential in the face of being wrong is ill-posed when you've already shown that you are talk...

Re: Amp wiring and layout question.
Now, what does this have to do with guitar amplifiers? Nothing , you and Vibratoking are the two that non stop challenge me every step. I did not offend anyone of you as everyone can see. You two are questioning my credential. I am just be happy asking some question, learn something here instead of...

Re: Amp wiring and layout question.
There are plenty of PHDs in AIP reviewing this, going through a lot of Q&A. This is American Institute of Physics. Yes, I know AIP. I published my first paper in physics almost 20 years ago. This is not the only paper I published, I own two patents under my name. That's a good start. Now, wha...

Re: Drove me nuts!
So I built this Rocket into a blues Junior sized chassis. Amp sounded great but had some oscillations. I couldn't figure out what the issue was. In any case I didn't like the stock cathode resistor value at 50ohms. So I couldn't find the oscillation but in the mean time I decided to add in some res...

Re: Amp wiring and layout question.
Calculate a 6" run with one inch separation. You will find the capacitance is very low. But a magnetic loop can emit field quite far, like your radio totally get interrupted within 50' of the power line. Those are EM loop couple, not capacitor coupling. Do you really work in this field? The EM coup...

Re: Amp wiring and layout question.
"It is very important to attach all components directly to the electron multiplier inside the vacuum with minimal lead Zength. The same components outside the vacuum provide no improvement." The article doesn't say why this is true. It seems to be more show and tell, rather than "This is why it matt...

I am a long time engineer specialize in high speed and RF, many years in signal integrity and EM design and in charge of passing CE test and design system grounding. I even published a paper in American Institution of Physics on what you called lead dressing for electron multiplier in mass spectrom...
