Re: Bourns Pots
Beside the feel of the pot, what about it's affect on the sound. If there is any, would that not be a greater concern? I recall some recent discussion about different brands, as it prompted me to swap out my Alphas for some old Fender CTS pots I had laying around. At first the CTS seemed to produce ...

Re: "70ies circuit Bludodrive"
I save portions of some posts relating to the 'funky OD' entrance and this appears to be what Brandon said: That amp is the 70's style circuit, 100K slope, 100K/1k5 plate/cathodes, Funky OD entrance network. Lance isn't using a loop , but he is plugged into the FET input. 5uf bypass caps all around,...

Re: PI Balance/Unbalance for Harmonics
This is very interesting, can any body point me in the right direction in the old threads where I can find full details on the best way to adjust the PI trim pot, or give the details on how it’s done. Thanks Hi lovetone, here you find the description of the "CALIBRATION PROCEDURE" for an Ampeg SVT/...

I guess I missed the post saying that #2 is 183.
Is there a post saying what is #1 ?

Re: Which is the Dumble
Is there any chance that both are 183, just with different settings?
...or that neither are?
But PLEASE let's have the answer - as I'm sure that more discussion and disagreement will follow no matter what it is.

Listening with head phones, #2 has more harsh fizz and #1 sounds smoother.erwin_ve wrote:I don't know which one is the dumble; I like #1 better

Re: Which is the Dumble
I want to add that regardless of results, making any assumptions/decisions/ideals when presented with such a low fi, compressed, and phase stricken clip is futile. However, thanks for posting Brad!! Wouldn't the quality of the recording not matter not so much, if at all, for purposes of a compariso...

Re: clean volume problem.
I had a tant cap on my D'lite as it came with the kit but I have since replaced it with an electrolytic. Can't remember what the tant sounded like. I believe the tolerances may be tighter on the tants. I think #124 has a tant cap. Re; 124: The schematic I have does show a Tantalum, which is why I a...

Re: clean volume problem.
Solved the clean volume problem yesterday. After almost replacing everything in the preamp, the difference between OD and clean became right when I changed the presence cap. ( same value 0.1). Odd! Must have been a bad cap. The amp now sounds sweet. Frank. You said the cap was .1 Is it the .1 cap t...

Re: Reassigning Deep to Footswitch
Is it HRM? I don't see any non HRM with the Deep circuit. Sorry again, I'm wasting everyone's time with lack or/incorrect info.... It is the standard Overtone, non HRM. I thought it was a deep switch because that's what the faceplate says it is, but looking at the Ceriatone schematics, I think it's...

Re: Chiming, singing, bell-like sound problem
+1 i hear no problem that amp sound great. It sounded like you hit a harmonic or the amp was starting to bloom into feedback (what dumble players love) I listened again and after that single note harmonic is what sounds like several strings being struck which ring out with a chime like quality. But...

Re: Chiming, singing, bell-like sound problem
IMHO it sounds EXACTLY like you are paying a string harmonic and nothing else.

Re: Too bright non-HRM
I don't think my problem is technical -- its that I think I ought to be a non-HRM player but my HRMs always sound better. A quick 12-step recovery program followed by redoing that part of the board and life will be good. My favorite tone with any of the "D" amps I've built is clean/loop/boost. I do...

Re: Too bright non-HRM
The last problem I noticed when recording (a buzzy sound) ended up being the microphone (an EV); also a particular speaker seemed to emphasis it, so I also changed that. The shrillness I'm getting now has to be coming from something else in my recording chain that I'm not noticing, 'cause the amp se...
